Hi. Domestic extremism researcher Jared Holt (@jaredlholt) joins Katy and Cody to talk about the remarkably poor Democratic response to the Supreme Court's Dobbs ruling, the intense coordination of right-wing messaging, Rudy Giuliani's not-quite-record-setting bad week, and whether what Donald Trump did in the back of that car could be considered a "lunge."

ugh. on the notion of untruth and “cities burning down a few years ago,” i lived this. in 2015 i was living in Chicago. there were protests regarding the police murder of Laquan McDonald in November. i drove home to my parents’ in Pennsylvania for thanksgiving. at thanksgiving dinner with my extended family, everyone kept asking me about “the riots in Chicago.” i couldn’t convince them that protests are not (necessarily) riots, or that when local news says “police clash with protestors” that means “police attack protestors.” 😖

I lost my right to reproductive freedom and all I got was this lousy fucking poem from Nancy Fucking Pelosi. Fuck the goddamn Dem leadership. Pelosi and Schumer need to retire.

A few things: if the dems want to get elected in the midterms, why aren't they throwing bill after bill on the floor of Congress to make the GOP vote down everything they try to do? Keep the public constantly aware that the GOP won't let anything through. Either that will show the voting public that they are actually willing to do whatever they can to help us, or they will actually squeak through some stuff. Maybe, and this is a long shot, but maybe an endless barrage of bad PR will wake up some of those psychos on the right and they'll remember that they are there for us, not the other way around. What else are the Dems going to do until midterms, beg and wring their hands? Even if they fail at every attempt, at least they TRY. Also, why haven't they censured Manchin and Sinema yet? The GOP hit two of their arguably most respectable members just for wanting to get the truth. AOC wants to be a leader, she has the chance right now. The media would love an outlier on the Left to shake things up during all this. Look at all the nationwide legislators who have gotten a ton of press for standing up to these nasty bullies. Begging for help is off-putting, but everyone loves an underdog with heart, who will take a beating but keep trying.

What if the Democrat plan is to be so ineffectual that they eventually drive their constituents to enough desperation to riot, and perhaps taking out opposition in the process

We should probably add a caveat when these people get in office.... you know in the lower government we can have laws. If Dems refuse to give us result.. we should punish those politicians.

TBH I've been of the opinion that DNC will never do what needs to be done. Drop the civility and just break the far right. Break them, take their districts where you can (hey their gerrymandering actually beat Republican Gerrymandering this time?), take their social safety nets where it doesn't hurt children because they fight having them anyway so show them what it's like. The DNC needs to be ruthless and powerhungry as the RNC but they won't do it because they live in a different era.

They are definitely desperate to get canceled on the right. Kid Rock said "I can't be cancelled, I love it when they try"... and I couldn't help but ask "who the fuck ever tries to cancel and/or think about Kid Rock in 2022?"

Sure seems like Nancy Pelosi should have been focused on codifying Roe, not suring up the republican party. Like, WE don't need a strong Republican party. You needed a strong Republican party, Nancy, to make your inaction appear cogent.
