Would you ever do a video on news from elsewhere in the world like on the rise of hard right politics in Europe (Brexit and the Conservative Party in the UK, or Lega in Italy for example)?

Heya! YouTube tossed me the "Havana Syndrome" episode to rewatch today, and it has that section on secession and why it's not likely/implausible/not a thing that should be done. My question is "is it won't happen" still your thinking in a world where Roe is dead, obergefell v. hodges and others are very likely to be gone soon as well, and red states are actively trying (and looking like they'll succeed) at making it functionally illegal to be LGBTQ, access contraception, etc.? If the GOP were to attempt to use federal power to meddle with blue states allowing these thing, do the blue states just roll over - or does California or New York/New England making a serious attempt at breaking off seem like more of a possibility?

We have plenty of our own problems, and many of the same problems, but it's hard to tell just how vulnerable we are to suffering from everything we see happening in the US at the moment

I know I've mentioned it before, but I'm curious as to your own opinions: What are your thoughts/do you try to make a clear distinction between ideals vs. practical concerns? For example: I think it was in Worst Year Ever that you were all discussing who should/shouldn't have access to medical care due to Covid. Your ultimate answer ended up being that everyone should, and you sort of shamed those that denied this (at least that was my impression). I think there are two different concerns here because as an ideal I would agree (obviously, everyone should have the right to affordable healthcare!) On the other hand, when I teach medical ethics, one of the things my classes discuss is ethical concerns around resource allocation. Given our collective state at the time, I think there is something to be said about prioritising people who were trying their best to keep themselves and the rest of society safe (e.g., by following proper guidelines) over those that were sometimes actively going against them (with obvious exceptions for children). I don't see that as being unethical or cold-hearted, just ethical practicality in the face of shitty circumstances. For what it's worth: I think you did a great job of pointing out the ideal/practical difference in your Vote for Joe Biden episode.

How would yall go about community building and mutual aid in an area that's very hostile towards leftists and even centrists such as the democrats? (The deep south) I get really sad when I see people dismiss us and say we're all a bunch of red neck hicks that get what we "voted" for but what they don't understand and what I want them to know is that the south is beyond corrupt and so gerrymandered that it's impossible for someone without an R beside their name to get into office. There are hundreds of thousands of us in these hostile states that can't get any change and don't want the things our states are doing. Because of our history these areas are very poor and we have family and obligations here. We can't just pick up and move the second our states take away our rights. On the other hand, I get it. I have to live in Trump land so I see it first hand. Our educational system is so broken and pathetic. We really have the daughters of the confederacy come into our schools and teach the lost cause theory. These people have been propogandised to and indoctrinated since day one so it's no wonder they actually think like this. Leftists here need all the help we can get and until there is a fundamental systemic change in the south and rural areas of the country, things are only going to get worse so buckle up buttercup and get to work.

How do you keep going? I know I personally struggle a lot with informing myself a lot about a topic and finding solutions, only to watch as my elected officials consistently vote for the worst possible outcome. What keeps you guys motivated to research and put out content week after week

Related to Fading Into Obscurity's question, any tips for balancing the different elements of content creation? I try to establish a routine of sorts but often have difficulty holding to the rest aspect of it. Especially when many of my rest activities (music, drawing, writing, etc...) are tied to areas of production. Finding it hard not to commodify my every waking moment. A true zero day is hard to come by as of late.
