Moral panics around “cancel culture” and “woke politics” have gone international and a lot of countries are allowing the slow creep of fascism to happen despite seeing what’s happening in the US. (For example here in The Netherlands our justice minister just made a speech saying that various forms of far right attacks on the state and “wokeism” are equally dangerous to the state. Her party has politics basically in line with the Democrats). If you could warn other countries (or if it was possible, a past version of the US before things got this bad), what advice would you give to avoid the dark timeline we are in now? Is there any way to fight the encroaching fasicsm when centrist parties are more interested in protecting the economy and not rocking the boat than actually making difficult decisions that might lose them a voter or two?

I think you guys have mostly ignored the culture war stuff which I respect and I understand why but I am curious how you talk about it when it comes up. Conservatives in Canada have just elected a career politician "man of the people" crypto proponent to lead the oldest and wealthiest political party in the country. The party in power can't stop stepping on its own dick, the left wing party is better at instagram than policy and one party, with seats in the national legislature, has as its stated goals the dissolution of Confederation. At some point, could you guys just destroy our politics up here, so we can show the rest of the country just how ridiculous we are?
