Great episode y'all. Jonathan, congratulations on the new little laborer!

It seems like after the first commercial break Cody comes in partway into the conversation, like something was cut off.

Angry optimist

In the conversation about how it seems like the left has to meet people where they are more often, and give more in the conversations, that's just the harsh reality of life now. The left is pushing for change, and so they need to not only convince people to change, but how to make changes and to push through the rough patches in that change. All the right needs to do is, nothing. Maybe sow just enough doubt to sway a free people away from change. There is so much money and inertia behind the current system that it isn't hard to just keep things going. We have the hard job of creating the change

Congratulations, Jonathan! Enjoy the news break!

I focused on climate issues for a long time, and I was always frustrated at the "just transition" talk, in that it never got much beyond saying we wanted a just transition. I feel like any solution brought to miners from academics/think tanks will be dismissed out of hand, because of course it will - why the fuck would you trust anyone means what they've said, let alone has the power to see a plan all the way through to the shiny new jobs on the other side? To that end, are there miners/people who live in mining communities thinking about life after coal? What do they want to see?

Good luck with the new human Jonathan! Hope you enjoy parenthood, mainly cause you can't return it, even if you kept the receipt.

I'm sure nobody will ever see this, but, the American Revolution was about rich people not paying taxes. The french revolution was about poor people starving. They both laid the groundwork work for their respective societies.
