Welcome Back! I saw that you post a couple of edits on YouTube and read your posts over there. Sucks you are having a hard time finding mental health services, hopefully a solution will present itself soon. I’m so happy that editing has sparked some inspiration. Hopefully, getting back to doing things you enjoy will help. At the very least give you some comfort and take your mind off reality for an hour or two. I think taking getting back into the swing of recording & editing should take time and not be rushed. Don’t overwhelm yourself with deadlines etc… Focus on you and your health. Take all the time you need 🤗🤗🤗

I have been chomping at the bit for you to see this episode. Not because it is a favorite of mine, but for the Dr. Whale reveal. The fact that Dr.Frankenstein’s cursed name is Whale is such a deep cut reference, very clever writing. Idk how familiar you are with the classic Universal horror movies from the 30’s? Frankenstein from 1931 & Bride of Frankenstein from 1935 were both directed by James Whale. He directed several films in the 30’s & 40’s but I believe his most famous are the OG Frankenstein films and The Invisible Man from 1933. I just love that they found a clever way of paying homage to the legendary director. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend the 1998 film “Gods and Monsters” it is loosely based on the final days of James Whale’s life. It stars Sir Ian McKellen, Brendan Fraser, & Lynn Redgrave. It is a heavy watch, but a very interesting film and the acting is fantastic!

“Crazy Pretty Boy” 😆😆😆 Perfect description for Jefferson! My take on Jefferson’s behavior is that, this is how he was before his daughter’s mother passed away. Plus, like Regina, he would be younger here, so he hasn’t been thru as much hard times vs. when we meet him and he had been betrayed by Regina, cursed, and kept from his daughter, etc… When we first met him in S1 he told Regina that his work cost Grace to loose her Mother and that’s why he gave up his work. It was implied in his S1 episode that he worked for and hung around with shady people and that he enjoyed the rich lifestyle it afforded him. It’s why Regina targeted his clothes, saying he used dress so much nicer and why she disguised herself as a toy merchant in order to decline selling him the toy rabbit for a cheaper price, she knew how materialistic he was from when he used to work for her and Rumple as it turns out per the backstory in this episode.

I was WONDERING how "Whale" was a reference to Frankenstein, and that answers my question, thank you! :D I haven't seen "Gods and Monsters" but Ian McKellen and Brendan Fraser are excellent, so it might be one I have to look into.

I think where they've lost me is that it's one thing to be callous and willing to hurt others to achieve your goals because you're materialistic, but to actually take pleasure in it (to the extent you're giddy) is far more unsavory. And since they really haven't shown him to be wired that way (at least, so far) it feels very jarring and out of character. So while I wasn't surprised to see Jefferson working with them, it was uncomfortable to see him so GIDDY about it. Though I do say in my outro of the edited video (which will be posted on time tomorrow, copyright checks willing!) that more clarifying information in the future can change my opinion on that. But currently, it does feels like a rare fumble on the part of the writing. And I do mean rare. It might even be the first time where I flat out reject what they're trying to sell me :D
