GOB is George Oscar Bluth, pronounced like Jobe. Gob is also a location in the Bible pronounced the same way.

You guys may have already caught this, but the title is a double entendre- “Arrested development is a psychological state where an individual's emotional, social, or cognitive growth stalls at a specific stage, typically due to childhood trauma, neglect, or chronic stress.” 👀

If you guys go back to the first episode, they do briefly mention the origin of GOB's name when he's introduced. It's pretty quick, though, so understandable that might have missed it!

I’m pretty sure the name Gob (George Oscar Bluth) is a reference to Jeb Bush of the Bush family. Jeb stands for John Ellis Bush. There are A LOT of references to US politics in this show, particularly the Bush years and the Iraq war

i’m sure you guys understand it by now, but GOB is pronounced like the biblical character job (long o) with the g sounding like it does in the first name george.

There is a 1938 movie starring Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant called "Bringing up Baby" the title might be a reference to that.

I never noticed in the same scene that when Michael told Gob that Buster was working that day and Gob says ‘in his swimsuit?’ while Gob was wearing pajamas. Also don’t notice the bread shredding!
