Pretty sure I jinxed yall with the Mark/Ben thing. My bad! 😅 I’m so excited for you to continue to get deeper into this world. ☺️ As a ton of people have already said, this is a top 3 for best written show in recent years. The confusion is so worth it once more information gets revealed :)

Mindbomb

Fantastic. Waffles for everyone!

makondan

Talked about not calling him Ben yet in the intro and 5 minutes into the episode called him Ben great work guys 😂😂

Julie A

I think Mark was just drunk at the dinner date and wasn’t paying attention to where she said she was from. He only caught the “M” part. I just want to know how Ms Casey knew Irv is skilled at kissing and love making. He must have put it on his CV. 😂

Julie A

I didn’t notice that!

Shanti (cuchupacu)

dylan would remind you that waffle parties are reserved for the refiner of the year.💧

JASON

Oh boy, here we go again. 2-minute intro in Episode 1, 6-minute intro in Episode 2. This is some GOT-level escalation—soon we'll be watching the intro and getting a bonus episode afterward. 😂

I think that Petey was saying "Hi kids, what's for dinner?" to Mark to see if he recognised the phrase or could it break through to his innie. They've been deliberately kept from meeting on the outside, so Petey only really has his innie memories with Mark, it could be the only running joke MDR have in the office and he wanted to use that to feel close to Mark. It must be so sad to have your very good friend not even recognise you!

Shanti (cuchupacu)

commenting on these quotes as i would’ve after watching these two episodes for the first time: “when we heard you were coming here, it was like a miracle.” cults attract and retain members by making them feel special and intrinsic to an important mission. (they also tend to have a lot of jargon only insiders would understand.) “hey kids, what’s for dinner?” it seemed to me from the first time we hear irv say it that he’s been trying out a new signature greeting. however, dylan and mark have come up w several reasons why they hate it. i think petey saying it to mark is a way to test if outies can recognize things w which their innies are familiar.

Mindbomb

...and for this transgression, a crisp handbook was waiting for me in the break room

Krystal

Petey told Mark that he left a copy of a map of the severed floor for Mark to find

Krystal

I think when you wrote down, "why are they disappearing?" you were referring to Helly asking Mark why he was just going to let go the question as to why Petey just disappeared

DN Reacts

I’ve watched that part 3 times and don’t hear the name Ben at all 😂

makondan

It's 6.30 in the show time stamp, 13.09 in the video timestamp

Ariel

I hope I'm not mistaken, but you've missed many other scenes where Mark Scout or even Mark S. hands are trembling, probably all the close-ups. It seems to me that Adam Scott himself is the one who has these tremors. But I could be wrong. I think I've noticed in a few other productions that his hands trembled as well. As for the Minnesota/Montana story, here's my take: Mark has a dry sense of humor. He's quite drunk, a little tipsy, and realizes he hasn't been paying attention to what Alexa was telling him about her life. So he brings up the fact that he didn't know they were two separate states as a joke, to downplay his distraction. I think Alexa wasn't fooled, either.

Ariel

I think it's Burt.

Michael

The intro has a lot of Easter eggs by the way so feel free to let the theories fly! Assuming you are the type of people to theorize idk 😂

Krystal

Or they’re trying to portray Mark as an alcoholic whose hands are shaky from the alcohol consumption

TheAluminumMonster

I mentioned Helly R. to you guys on The Gang Gets romantic episode of It’s always Sunny because the actress that plays Helly was the mother of the dead child Teddy in that episode. It’s the episode where Mac and Dennis have a husband and wife stay at their apartment as an air bnb but the gangs plan was to set up a meet cute not knowing they had a dead child. It’s the first episode of season 14. I left the comment early because I knew you’d guys eventually love this show. I was sure you were gonna wonder where you knew her from!

TLC

I have no clue! Confused but totally in best describes where I am. My question is why didn't we see what happened to Mark S. in the break room? This probably means nothing but they said the scanner/alarm in the elevator was a symbol detector for writing. Maybe there is no detector for electronics like the tape recorder?

Melissa Redstag

I’m watching for the first time too. The boss lady is definitely not severed. She is keeping tabs on him for sure. She even asked where he was eating dinner when he first met Petey. That lady is definitely big trouble haha. And poor Petey definitely doesn’t seem like he is long for this world. Or that world.

TLC

So, @Ariel you are correct, the shaking hands are a real life problem for Adam Scott. It has been widely documented and reported on that he suffers from essential tremors. These are a common malady and are different from things like Parkinson's. At the same time @Krystal is also correct in that the show and Scott appears to focus on those shaky hands to emphasize his mental state and dependence on alcohol.

Perrin

I just noticed in the recap - "Mrs. Selvig" says, "You're good people" because Mark is literally two different people. (I realize this is a typical turn of phrase, I'm just saying it was intentional.)

tiramisujen ≽^•⩊•^≼

That's so interesting I didn't know Adam Scott suffered from tremors. It reminds me of how Michael J Fox' character in The Good Wife has a condition which allows him to act with Parkinsons. I wouldn't be surprised if Mark's alcoholism was added after he was cast as it does explain the tremors and of course fits with the character and the grief he's experiencing

Nikki_KnotDoneYet

Was the background music about 10 mins in The Ants Go Marching?

Nikki_KnotDoneYet

Also, I love the outro music- Lupe Fiasco- my fav version f. Jill Scott.

Nikki_KnotDoneYet

I’m guessing this isn’t a spoiler since I haven’t seen past episode 2 and am as confused as anyone else on their first watch of this show, but FWIW: “"Daydreamin'" by Lupe Fiasco (featuring Jill Scott) is a brilliant, Grammy-winning critique of pop culture and the state of hip-hop. Using a giant robot as an observational metaphor, the song juxtaposes fantasy with the harsh realities of urban environments, challenging listeners to wake up from societal complacency.” https://www.npr.org/transcripts/134426574

SierraNicole

I'm so confused. My episode 2 starts differently than yours. I've like triple checked I'm on the right one...what the heck??

SierraNicole

I figured it out...You had like a recap or something, I think. Mine doesn't do that. Weird.

TiMthisIS

The show is mysterious but other then reflection, there's no magic eye color changing happening. I can't imagine how an electronic chip could have any such effect.

TES

I know you guys did this weeks ago, I'm just catching up, but Nick. Do you not know who Christopher Walken is? Did he not breakthrough in the UK? In America he's one of our most celebrated actors of all time.

Jeff K.

They need to discover the greatness that is Christopher Walken, if not. Also one of the most frequently imitated people on the planet given his very, very unique cadence. The story about him is that any script he gets, he goes through and takes out all of the punctuation in his lines. That's not myth or anything, either; he's literally said that, apparently.

robin

omg i thought i was going crazy

Katharine Baker

I think he just says it because when the innies leave they only experience a few seconds in the elevator and the day starts again. So he left like he was going home for dinner and is treating them like his family. Irving joke.

Katharine Baker

Weird that Milchik (sp?) didn’t grab those hidden photos knowing the Petey was on the the run and possible not severed anymore. Also weird that Mark thought to hide the photos

Katharine Baker

Also why is this super high tech company using such old hardware, camera, software etc
