Yes!! Such an amazing episode! You guys already caught on to the fact that when Mark is talking about Gemma at the end he uses the same sentence structure as in the Wellness session with Miss Casey. Facts and then "I loved all these things about her... equally." I think Cobel is trying to test the limits of Severance.

Remember boys. They aren't normally met at the elevator to be escorted to their office. It's a new protocol, that's what Millcheck told him. I think the typical reason they have reception call someone and let them know is to insure they can time things so they don't run into other severed co-workers.

Definitely think it's a possibility Lumon took Gemma and staged the car accident to make Mark feel vulnerable enough to take a Severed job. We were told in a previous episode about his "Freshman fluke," I wonder if they knew Mark would be really key to something with Macro Data Refinement. Similar to when Milchick told Helly when they found out she was coming here it was like a miracle. I wonder if all the MDR outies were targeted and sort of manipulated into taking the job! Lumon is scary

Dunno if you noticed but when Mark sees Cobel's name on the monitor, it says "Non-Severed" along the top. In the diagram on the monitor it looked like there were 2 lifts for Non-Severed and 2 for Severed.

Gaaaah I would love to watch this episode for the first time again. I was guessing Ms. Casey when Mark started talking and when the picture confirmation came up it felt like my brain broke.

The box where the candle came from said “Gemma’s Crafts” which leads me to believe Gemma made it. Cobel sniffs it before taking it, so I assume she realized it’s scented and decided it would make a good test variable. We then see Ms Casey light the candle before the session with Mark that Cobel is monitoring. So all of this tells me Cobel was testing scent as a possible memory trigger. Random aside: the subtitles in the scene where Cobel finds the candle says the noise she makes is “nooo”, but I actually think that’s a subtitle error. To me it sounded like she was just making a speculative sort of noise as if she’d just gotten the idea to use the candle.

Truthfully, I was listening to you guys theorize about Milchick and Dylan living together and laughing so much. 😂 I appreciate that you guys took that leap so quickly haha Irv asked about Burt getting disciplined for their visit - Burt told Milchick that he "doesn't want the break room again today", because "yesterday was enough" when Milchick mentioned that he has a surprise for Burt. Burt definitely got punished for MDR being there. And more frustrating to think about, they took the opportunity to torture Burt one last time before his retirement. They knew they were going to retire him because they filmed that video with his outtie before the day had started (and I wonder when that was filmed... after the break room the day before? or just sometime in the past for whenever it will be applicable?). They could've just let his "defiance" go since he was retiring the next day, but nah, they sent him to the break room anyway. A good indication of them being cruel just because they can. 😑

No 😂 I was only looking for surnames hidden from us. It could of course turn out that them slowly feeding us everyone’s surname first letter is pointless and just something to keep us busy.

it seems burt’s retirement was a surprise to innie burt, possibly last-minute for outie burt. burt’s retirement song says “do you remember the times of your life?” (no!) the color lights during the MDE were a surprise to the actors, so they could capture their genuine reactions. newspaper headline that stood out: “new sculpture at ganz ‘not pornographic,’ say administrators” (nothing about graner) the candle was in a box labeled “gemma’s crafts,” so it was made by gemma. for me the interesting thing about it is that it’s divided in two, like several things and ppl in the show.

It always struck me as a little strange that Helly goes along with the MDE and dances with Milchick, fitting that she chose a genre with "defiant" in the name, but I really got the impression she hates Milchick and Cobel

We've got evidence of Lumon - a powerful entity owning so much of the town, basically - being evil and covering up things, and evidence of Gemma being a good person (Devon and Mark's anecdotes). Honestly, I doubt Gemma would go the lengths to leave a relationship in such a way. That's my opinion.

I have to admit the only reason I started watching this show is because I saw Patricia Arquette was in it. She’s such a great actor and just a badass in general! Mean looking Ms. Cobel…😂

As someone who has seen the show a couple times, It is very fun to watch your guys’ reactions to things and hear your theories. These three last episodes of season 1 are crazy! This is the only show where I found myself either pacing back and forth in my living room or on the edge of my seat during an entire finale episode.

I think Milchick was hiding the card going missing, more than the OTC. If he told her he used the OTC on Dylan, he’d have to explain why and the card seemed important for some reason. When he pulled the 266 on Irving, Cobel seemed surprised he didn’t check first but said it was a good decision, so there’s a chance she would approve if she thought the reason justified it. (However her reactions are never consistent - I don’t blame Milchick for not wanting to test those waters too often)

🤯 Mind Blown! Some people live here all the time...how do you explain that to the people outside... you fake their deaths! Okay... it they run everything they also control law enforcement in the town. Keeping the discovery of a body from the local media, who they would also control, wouldn't be hard. If you watched outtie Burt's eyes doing the video he kept looking off to the side as if he was reading or checking with someone to insure he was saying what he was supposed to say. Milchick only said something to the effet that the new doors at MDR still need to be checked as they obviously aren't working right...yet once he took Irvin back he never bother to ask how he got out.

I tend to really immerse myself in a story so I don't do a lot of detective work about what's coming next so, maybe I was alone in this, but the idea that Mark's wife was alive and working at Lumen never crossed my mind. I was FLOORED when the Gemma reveal happened. The show did a really good job of not spoiling that but also delivering a twist that made a lot of sense in retrospect. We know Miss Casey only gets to wake up for 10-15 minutes at a time and that there are employees that never leave and that Cobel gave her the candle she took from Mark's house...so in retrospect it's totally believable even if it wasn't predictable. That's the best kind of twist, in my opinion. The question in my mind now is, did Gemma sign up for a job at Lumen without Mark's knowledge and not realize what it would cost? Or did Lumen need her specifically so badly that they staged a car accident and death just to get their hands on her? Both options are equally compelling, I think. :)

Watching on catchup, first time watching series— This episode began with Mark saying “who are you?” Wasn’t this how the first episode started? I can’t remember for sure, but I think that this was part of our intro to Helly.

Watched this episode last night, along with 8 and 9. As Mark was taping the picture, my first thought was Helly, but that didn’t feel right. Then like three seconds before the picture reveal, I turned to my husband and said, “What if it’s the therapist?!” I couldn’t even remember her name or actual title with all the anticipation, lol.

The thing on Mark's desk is explained in a background conversation in an earlier episode. I believe it's called the freshman fluke. Mark finished his very first file in one day on his first day of employment.
