You can travel to another country within the EU without a passport, not within Europe. I used to go to the UK (I'm from the Netherlands) without one, but can't anymore since Brexit

You don't need any id to crossnfrom state to state - there's not even a stop - and you can fly domestically with a driver's license or other state issued ID.
