Weird Magic

FWIW - when we watched the episode on Sunday night, it also did not have the episode title. But when we finished, it was there. Might be able to get it in the outro next week?

You're right Nick we were told those eggs that Alys had at Harrenhal were Dreamfyre's. Dreamfyre is said to have been hatched during the reign of Aegon the Conqueror. Princess Rhaena Targaryen was her first rider before Helaena and her last days were spent at Harrenhal. However during this episode Alys seems to be giving Aemond more visions so now I'm questioning whether those eggs are even real 🤣

As much as I really don't like the Mysaria and Sylvie scene- I think it's funny that Mysaria sounds like she's mimicking Rhaenyra's speaking cadence

Weird Magic

In the same episode Aegon said Sunfyre was alive, they showed Meleys as well. Meleys was decaying...it didn't look like Sunfyre was decaying, just burnt.

Weird Magic

We know the TV series gently strays away from the books from time to time, but Sunfyre remaining dead would contradict GOT canon (S3E4), and they don't usually move away from that.

I don't think it's strange to have a soft spot for Aegon. None of these characters (except for Helaena) are morally good, they've all done terrible things. GoT was always at it's best when it gave us very morally grey and complex characters

Last season we saw Daemon having a vision/dream where he had sex with his mother Alyssa- In this episode Alys says "You Targaryen boys all want the same thing don't you?" This makes me wonder if Alys was also giving that vision of Alyssa to Daemon while sleeping with him. Is this like Melissandre's magic? Power in the blood of Kings? What is she up to 🤔

I can still see why one would be a bit skeptical of Sunfyre surviving though. They cut Meleys head off so I could see her body decaying faster. I dunno I'm probably biased since I knew that Sunfyre wasn't going to be dead I felt like the way the show handled it wasn't exactly subtle lol

TLC

There are lots of bastards in Westros they have to come from somewhere.

The one detail I liked with this episode was in the final scene when Aegon is giving his speech and Sunfyre is behind him you could see the burn scars on Sunfyre's face and the sort of mirrored Aegon's scars. Pretty clear what the season final will be or should be. With GoT I was so use to the penultimate episode being the biggie and the final setting the stage for the following season I'm still not use to the pacing here. If the final is what I expect it to be I am looking forward to it. And then the final season.

tiramisujen ≽^•⩊•^≼

They've been kinda inconsistent with the penultimate episode pattern in HoTD, I'd kinda argue that in season 1 episodes 9 and 10 were probably both equally big considering we did the coup after Viserys' death just from both a Greens perspective and then Blacks perspective. Season 2 the big episode ended up being the penultimate episode 7 with the Red Sowing- but if we think of what should have been 9-10 as Battle of the Gullet and Rhaenyra taking kings landing they'd both have been huge episodes. I was very underwhelmed with this episode and basically this whole season following episode 3 :/ I've no predictions going into the finale now!

TLC

I tend to agree. I'm assuming what the final will be and I know book lore but I can't put any stock in that with the "litte" changes the writers are making

tiramisujen ≽^•⩊•^≼

I think we both predicted what this season's finale was likely to be on the ep 8 reaction for season 2- but think we can agree that's probably not gonna be it! 🤣

I mean about the dragons, I think we still need to remember that they aren't just biological creatures, they are also magical creatures.

Demanda

A quote for Damo: “Blessed is the man who can laugh at himself, for he will never cease to be amused.” Source is actually unknown, although it’s erroneously attributed to a ton of different people. May be my all-time favorite quote.

Joe Brown

Daemon is not "morally grey" come on hes an awful person lmaooo. fun character though.

Joe Brown

love that Sunfyre's face is disfigured just like Aegon's

Joe Brown

i think the obvious explanation for the Dreamfyre eggs at Harrenhal is that they're Dany's (three of them, anyway), but its possible they have some other purpose

Joe Brown

from the moment Alicent's companion was killed i suspected Alys would see through Alicent and kill her. that suspicion only grew as Alys clearly has suspicion for Alicent. my prediction came half right since Alicent is still alive, but i suspect she may not survive her escape.

seems odd that the Winter Wolves get so much mention as if they are so significant, when they are part of a joint army with the rivermen. Alys said at the beginning of this season that the river army is 40k strong, whereas the northerners are just 2k. maybe there are a lot less rivermen in the host by now?
