Kristin Carter

This is one of my favorite episodes of season 1!

Jordan Wiegand

Before I watch, Now that you know Mr. Locke’s first name is John I wanted to share that, of course, John Locke is a famous historical philosopher. And one of his primary beliefs was Tabula Rasa, the idea that humans are more shaped by nurture than nature, which was also the name of episode 3! I can’t wait to sit down and watch this episode. It’s one of the best television reveals of all time but also works on such an emotional and character level.

tiramisujen ≽^•⩊•^≼

I think Sawyer called Boone 'metro' short for metrosexual, which is is a term for a man who is super into his personal style, grooming and appearance :P

Kristin Carter

Yes, Sawyer's nicknames are epic - I like to imagine him laying awake at night, coming up with a list of them and then using them at just the right time

tiramisujen ≽^•⩊•^≼

Just fyi Locke also said to the Walkabout Organiser “my condition is not an issue, I’ve lived with it for 4 years” so we can assume that Locke wasn’t born paraplegic

tiramisujen ≽^•⩊•^≼

Very interesting your Love, Like, Hate lists didn’t change from this one! Really glad Sayid got a bit of an honourable mention :) he’s one of my favourites

DN Reacts

Ah okay, thank you. I heard it as “for years” I think. Will add this to my notes.

Jimmy K

Write all your theories down and trust your instincts. All views are possible! Nothing is too far fetched...

immapotat

the ending reveal amazing

Daniel Holzschuh

Locke’s story is very good, that scene at the end is all time

Hefty517

Whenever I’ve had friends express interest in maybe watching Lost, I tell them to watch through episode 4. The reveal and the musical score always gets me. You two pick up on so much when watching things, I’ve been convinced the last couple weeks that you’d figure out the twist beforehand. So happy to see your genuine reaction when it’s revealed. Now to go back to my hole until the next episode drops 😂

Hefty517

Once you realize that Locke is a paraplegic, it’s absolutely wild to go back and think what an absolute bellend Randy is to say such things.

Erin’s Cafe

That’s a great idea to keep track of who knows what. There are so many secrets, and everyone’s backstory is so important.

Kab

I just love everything that comes out of your mouths haha. Every thought, every question, every speculation. It's so gooood watching you react to the show!

David Suggs

I watched this is at released in middle school. This is the most fun rewatch with you guys. So much I am reliving

JennaB

Been looking forward to this one since the notification came up hours ago while I was making my morning pet sitting rounds Lunch, Lost and DN TV; hell yea. Happy Saturday. Cheers.

Jordan Wiegand

It got me good this time. I was crying like crazy, the music is so good

TLC

I'm about to watch the reaction to one of the best episodes in television. I'm looking forward to your reactions and theories. Your faces said it all... Damo was gobsmacked and literally didn't move for what seemed like a full half minute. So the current theory is a magic machine.🤔😆 There are so many things I want to post but I can't because...well spoilers. I am remembering all the things that made me fall in love with this series

Ambrosia

I haven't watched this episode for years, and I forgot about some of the details. I myself just went through four years of a disease that paralyzed me, and I'm finally mobile at least (and about to go to Japan... talk about testing my legs heh😅 ). Watching this episode just made me incredibly emotional! Anyway! You guys are picking up on so much so early! This whole show has so many little things, and I'm so so glad you're paying attention to it all! Don't ever feel silly for writing anything down, who knows what may come up down the line!

flink

By far, you guys are giving the best reactions to Lost that I have seen. I’m thankful to see you respecting the journey. Speaking of the journey, after watching the series about 25 times now, I still believe that while the first episodes are fantastic, if you weren’t hooked before Walkabout, you are afterwards. Another great reaction!!

Ambrosia

Oh, you mentioned Locke asking Walt to keep a secret. I don't know if you heard what Walt said when Michael asked him what the secret was, but Walt said "Mr. Locke said a miracle happened to him".

Merri-gal

You’re right. Lock and the others need to talk with Jack. He’s brilliant and is def action man. The writers really understood he’s a spinal surgeon and that specialty takes a minimum of 10 to 11 years of post-undergraduate training: 4 years of medical school, 5 years of orthopedic surgery residency, and 1 to 2 years of spinal surgery fellowship. The fascinating thing is he’s compassionate by nature and Rose awakens that in this crisis. Soft skills are inborn and very few surgeons have them (I work with them). They can be polite or civil, but beyond that it’s difficult for them. Their extreme confidence works for them in their jobs but against them elsewhere. Jack and Locke are opposites so far.

Merri-gal

I’ve never seen anyone else react, but trust these 2 enough to buy the annual pass just to see LOST with them🎉

Merri-gal

My mom radar was still on high alert though.

Merri-gal

It’s an incredibly intricate maze and it’s fun to watch them tackle it!

flink

After watching a couple reactions to GOT, I did the same. Lost and GOT are my 2 all time favorite series, so the timing was perfect. The reactors that aren’t as good talk way too much during their reactions. Here, they take notes and discuss after. Love that!

Laur

I can’t say enough how happy I am that you two are watching Lost!

tiramisujen ≽^•⩊•^≼

Oh reallly?? I find that so interesting because I first watched the show when I was around 13 and that kind of thing was definitely not on my radar when I was that young! I've been so curious to hear if others were also very suss about him for that reason

RA

One of my fav episodes and man John Locke - one of the most fascinating character of TV

Ambrosia

oh, absolutely!!

Tobias Keezy

This is the real hook episode for the series, guys. Walkabout is usually where people get really engaged, and those who don’t probably won’t like the rest of the show. John Locke is one of my favorite characters in TV history. That doesn’t mean he’s always someone I like or agree with. But I am captivated by his character. The way he swings from pitiable and sad to mystically inspirational is like no other I’ve seen.

Demanda

I was so happy when Damo got chills! I first saw this episode almost 20 years ago and I still get chills every time. Michael Giacchino’s theme is absolutely gorgeous here and brings so much to the scene. Fun fact: the score for this show contains over 400 unique motifs and character themes! Also, if it helps: in the previous episode when Walt tells Michael that Locke told him a secret, Michael specifically asks if Locke told him not to tell. Walt says “no”, and then tells him what they spoke about. Locke never told Walt to keep anything from Michael, you guys just missed that line of dialogue. Interestingly, what Walt proceeds to tell Michael is that Locke told him “a miracle happened”. 👀

tiramisujen ≽^•⩊•^≼

Yeah the line is "Walt, do you want to know a secret?" I suppose that could be taken a few ways, I never had those suspicions when I first watched but I was also like 13 :/

zach

This episode is the introduction of a few of my favorite plot lines in Lost. The reveal of Locke is still mind boggling every time I rewatch it. Even though you’ve already seen a couple characters reasons for being in Australia, I’m looking forward to seeing what theories you guys come up with for the circumstances that led each of these people to being on this flight. I love how this show does flashbacks and just gives small bits of backstory for the characters scattered throughout each episode

Kab

Did not even know that. Thanks for sharing!

Kab

Also I though I knew a lot a about Lost and Lost trivia but these people in the comments here, haha. I love it. Learning new stuff about my favorite show ever. Again more than 40 comments a few hours after upload. This is so fun. And Love, Like, Hate after episode would be brilliant haha. Maybe gets stale. But could be brilliant

Matt108

So glad you guys are watching Lost! I’ve been a fan of your videos for a few years now and this is my all time favorite show. Fun fact about this episode: the original title was going to be Lord of the Files, obviously a nod to Lord of the Flies + Locke’s boring desk job. “Unhinged theory time”…yep, welcome to Lost! You’ll have your notepads filled in no time! Any theory is a good theory - enjoy the ride!

Erin’s Cafe

Legitimately one of the most satisfying reveals I’ve ever seen from reactors. Took me right back to the first time I watched it on DVD- I had to race back to the local video store to get the next disc before they closed.

Erin’s Cafe

This show was peak water cooler talk before social media, back when everyone was watching shows on the same schedule. I kind of miss having pop culture touchstones like this that brought everyone together the next day at work and school.

Erin’s Cafe

Also, do you guys have a mailing address for gifts? If so, I might send you a fun Lost gift. Not yet, because spoilers.

Matt108

Another great detail only in hindsight: the soles of Locke’s shoes aren’t worn

Sarah_M

Oh I was SO looking forward to the reveal in this one! GREAT reaction! John Locke is a fascinating character and they crafted the start of his story over these few episodes expertly, beautiful foreshadowing, it was great television. 👏👏👏👏

tiramisujen ≽^•⩊•^≼

Are we all just revealing our age now? 😂 pretty sure the maxing has to have 2 'x's' 🤣🤣🤣

tiramisujen ≽^•⩊•^≼

I remember watching shows on Monday night in the UK and never had to think about getting spoiled because it aired on Sunday in the US. The LOST series finale was also the first to ever air at the same time globally :P I had an exam the next morning so my brother stayed up to watch it by himself and then I had to stay spoiler free until my exam was over and I could finally see it!

Firestarter

For the hate, like, love game, you should keep track how many times you change your people :D

Matthew Mallick

Locke being a "Colonel" is probably just a code/roleplay name for that war strategy game they were playing at lunch.

Merri-gal

If I’m in a hurry it looks like I type with my elbows on a laptop, never mind on my cell😉

SierraNicole

These guys are hands down my favorite reactors. For any genre. I started watching them with It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and then went to Game of Thrones when they added that and they did both so well. I can't count how many times I've rewatched IASIP and Modern Family with them. They're a great pair for a show like this (even though, admittedly, Lost isn't a favorite). I really want them to check out From next though!!

Weird Magic

Originally airing on October 13, 2004, "Walkabout" is Episode 4 of Season 1 of LOST. It is the 4th episode overall and has an IMDB rating of 9.0, placing it as the #6 ranked episode of this season and #3 out of all the episodes shown so far.

Merri-gal

Their AKOTSK reactions are funny and insightful. Their surprised and shocked faces are me😁

Kip LeCrone

Nick and Damo, regarding the subtitles: the intention behind the Korean subtitles is this: when Sun and Jin are around the other characters, there are no subtitles, because the creators want us to be in the POV of the other people, who wouldn't understand what they are saying. When they are by themselves, or in flashbacks in Korea, the subtitles will translate into English. So there are scenes where you aren't supposed to know exactly what they are saying.

Ludus Aurea

I’ve never seen subtitles for the French or Korean but basically there a reason. You’re not supposed to know what they say except to each other. But my subtitles don’t have that either.

S13 Drift

could have roasted the polar bear... smh

Mark Riggs

Has Damo shown any appreciation for the LOST not being crooked when it pops up at the end of each episode? I know the angle was bothering on the first reaction, so I wanted to check. Also, I've watched this show more times than I can remember, and I never noticed the machine by the bed when he's talking to Helen, and if it was a clue. I found this on Lostpedia: "In the flashback, Locke has an electromedical nerve stimulation machine by his bed.[1] It is a PRO ElecDT® electromedical device from Hako-Med used for stimulating motor nerves for the purpose of providing muscle reeducation." Also also, go back and listen to the scenes with the "monster" in the episodes so far and then listen to the end of the first bit of John's flashback, when he's working on the adding machine. It sent a shiver down my spine the first time I watched this series.

Kay

Another hint at the start of this episode is that when he finds his shoe, the sole isn’t worn at all so either it’s a brand new shoe or he hasn’t been walking in them. But it’s absolutely not something I caught until like my 4th rewatch lol

Anne

Your reaction to Locke is the same mine was the first time I saw this episode.Fabulous episode
