I was doing so good until the kids said "there will always be the three of us" from that point on I lost it...then the photo montage as it closed 😭 Pretty close to a perfect finale. A pilot was written for a Mitch Cam spinoff but ABC passed on it. It seems the network didn't like the idea of a show focusing on the "old guys". There was also a reluctance by some of the actors of jumping back into the same characters after 11 years. Favorite character is always going to be Jay. Funniest character is Phil with Mitch being a close runner-up.

Yep - there was a spinoff planned for Cam Mitch Lily and Rex in Missouri 🤣 Jesse (Mitch) wasn’t up for it so they didn’t do it :( And yes we held off mentioning because you only find out at the end that they’re going to Missouri haha

Perfect end, damn near perfect show. My favourite character has to be Jay. What a journey that man has had. For a sitcom they hit on some really important messages and I think Jay's journey was always so realistic and I'm so happy for him and Claire and especially Mitch. The episode 15 Percent springs to mind, Mitch says "Can people change? I don't know. People are who they are. Give or take...about fifteen percent. That's how much people can change if they really want to. Whether it's for themselves or the people they love, yeah, it's fifteen percent. But sometimes, that's enough." and I think he really got so much more than that with Jay 💚💚💚

This is easily my favourite comedy of all time. My favourite character is Phil, because he makes me laugh the most, and I appreciate how much he adores his family. (I also always loved how Dylan was almost a carbon copy of Phil) Shout out to Stella!!! The most adorable character in the whole show!

I have 3 siblings, and my family was always a lot like this one. We always gathered together for every event, and sometimes just for no reason at all. Around ten years ago we all dispersed with our families to different parts of the country. Those regular big gatherings stopped and turned into smaller groups of us visiting each other when we could, and a group chat that’s always popping off. But you know what? We all came back, one by one, and now my parents have all of their kids and grandkids near them again. I like to think the same thing eventually happened here with the Dunphy Pritchett clan. <3

This is one of, if not the best, sitcoms of the 2010s. I always cry when it pans through the photos of the family throughout the years. When Jay said “both my sons are leaving” yeah, wrap it up. I’m a MESS 😭 I can’t imagine how difficult it was for the main cast to say goodbye to the show. ❤️‍🩹

Phil and Alex's relationship always gets me. He knows exactly what to say to her that gets me emotional. Very much a Claire/Phil dynamic that she grew to appreciate

Fun fact, it’s believed that the show was trying to cast Bryan Cranston (Walter White, from Breaking Bad) for Phil’s character because of how good he was on Malcolm in the Middle. But he didn’t want another goofy dad character and that’s how we got Ty Burrell

it wasn't jesse's choice! he talked about it in his podcast. the news got it wrong, he never turned it down, he only said he was nervous about playing mitch again but he would have loved to do it. some people higher up decided not to. hopefully some day we wil get some spin-off!!

yes makes me more hopeful when an actor hasn't turned it down! :) there are so many conflicting news sometimes but i had to check him saying it himself :D

"close to a perfect finale" <- Truth! This show also has a pretty much perfect pilot too. It's amazingly difficult to get both the opening and the closing of a show right - hats off to the writers, cast, and the whole crew! 👏
