Chapter 3
Kelly glanced at the clock and grimaced. She’d spent way too much time in the shower. Her shapely body still tingled, and the faintest of quivers remained in her belly. Leaning over the bathroom counter to get a closer look at her made-up face, she worried the inside of her cheek, afraid she’d put too much makeup on. It was literally the first time she would ever go out dressed so fine, not to mention the first time she wore anything more than mascara and a touch of lipstick.
“Who knew glamming up like this was so scary?”
Hair and makeup looked flawless, so she stood up straight and let her big green eyes travel down her nude body. Her nips still stood at attention, and her pussy remained excited and a little more than damp. She’d carefully shaved and trimmed her blonde pubic patch into a small triangle earlier that morning. Kelly still wasn’t sure why, since she had no intention of letting any boy see it, much less anything else. Still, she felt a little sexier, a little more feminine, having done it.
She could think of a couple players on the boy’s team she’d like to show her stuff to, maybe a little too much. Her body’s reaction to boys was the main reason she kept them at arm’s distance. While her head was focused on her life goals, her hormone-saturated teenage body was eager to play with the big boys.
I’m not EASY like Jessica and her Cool Girl squad. Kelly rubbed her glossy red lips together, and then popped them with a smile. I have more self-esteem, not to mention self-control. She wagged her brows at her reflection. I just hope the boys can control themselves tonight.
The eighteen-year-old giggled, one hand coming up to cover her mouth.
Going to the closet, she took down the special dress that she’d first eyed in a store window more than two years ago, and spent almost as long saving for. Even on consignment, the gently-used designer dress had cost a fortune, at least by her working-class standards. Almost what her father made per paycheck, and that wasn’t even counting the designer stiletto pumps. Daddy was not pleased.
The blue Victoria Beckham dress zipped all the way up the back, and hugged every curve of her body like a second skin. It was sleeveless, with a deep plunging neckline. The hemline only dropped to mid-thigh, if that. Just putting it on made her heart race. It actually got a little hard to breathe when she slipped on the white Casadei Blade pumps.
Blue and white. The team colors.
“Maybe I shouldn’t…”
That moment of fear and doubt didn’t last long. Other than next week’s graduation parties, Kelly wouldn’t have any other opportunities to show off her feminine side to all her childhood friends. She was sure the guys would appreciate it in a completely different way than the girls. But then, you know, boys and their dirty little minds.
Picking up her purse – white to maintain the color scheme – Kelly headed for Hooligans. It was just a couple of blocks away on the same street. Just crossing the main lobby proved thrilling, what with all the men doing double-takes as she walked past. She was so glad she’d practiced all those hours walking in those sky-high heels.
The street proved well-lit, so she breathed a sigh of relief. Until that moment, it hadn’t really occurred to Kelly that it might be dangerous to walk alone to the club. The team had been warned that it wasn’t the safest part of town, so she kept a sharp eye out for trouble. She idly wondered how fast she could kick off those heels, and then how badly that tight skirt would hamper her running.
And then she spotted him. A homeless man. He was walking straight towards her. Then two other men, looking thirty-something, stepped out of a building and cut the homeless man off. She felt a little safer, and thought she could slip past unopposed when the homeless man stopped to beg for money from the other two.
Kelly jumped and squeaked when those two men turned on the homeless guy and started beating him. He looked old and frail, and fell as quickly as expected. His collapse didn’t stop their uncalled for assault. They stood to either side of him and KICKED that poor, defenseless guy over and over and over.
“Hey! Stop that!” she cried.
They barely gave her a glance. The two men continued kicking that curled-up homeless man. And for no good reason! They didn’t seem drunk or anything – just that mean-spirited. One of the attackers even had his phone out to record the beating. Kelly’s anger erupted.
The well-built teenager raced up to them, stilettos clattering loudly on the concrete. She immediately swung her heavy purse, aiming for the guy with his phone out. She caught him square in the face. As he dropped his phone and fell back, Kelly used her Martial Arts training to press her advantage, and battered both the men with her fists and elbows.
The attackers fell back, gawking at her. She saw anger starting to spread across their faces, and prepared herself for a proper fight, but then a passing car honked. That made them turn and run. Kelly watched until they passed out of sight around a nearby corner, and only then did she relax.
“Hey, mister, are you okay?”
The old homeless guy nodded, but looked kind of loopy. So Kelly picked up the dropped phone, and found it was still up video-recording. She ended the recording without deleting, assuming that the police would want to use that against his assailants. Then she dialed 911 and placed the phone next to the dazed homeless man.
“Help is coming, mister,” she said.
Kelly hurried away, not wanting to spend the evening filling out police reports instead of partying with her teammates.
I’ll just be an anonymous Good Samaritan, she thought. I need tonight’s party more than I need the glory of saving that poor man.
She didn’t hear any sirens until she reached Hooligan’s front entrance. There was a doorman, but no line out front. She had to show her driver’s license, since the club was eighteen and over. Despite the club’s name, they didn’t do alcohol. Were sober people ever really hooligans?
The doorman also required her Playoffs Player’s Pass. The club was reserved for the players to celebrate together, despite every team officially telling them to stay in their rooms.
Players gotta play, Kelly thought as a big smile spread across her face.
Kelly found the club sultrily dark, the music loud and energetic, and the crowd thick. Who knew there were that many players, cheerleaders, and band members participating? The back half of the club was dance floor, with the bar to the left and the VIP area to the right. She’d been told that only members of the winning boys’ and girls’ teams, and their cheer squads, could sit in the VIP Lounge. So Kelly headed straight for the VIP area.
She immediately spotted Jessica and her Cool Girl Squad of fellow cheerleaders. They’d claimed a large table next to the dance floor, but outside of the VIP area. Odd, that, since Jessica was a rich, privilege girl through-and-through. Kelly couldn’t imagine why she’d sit anywhere but the most prestigious spot in the club.
“Someone’s in a bad mood,” Kelly muttered. Jessica sat with her legs crossed, one elbow on the table, and her face propped up atop a fist. She just sat there staring at the dance floor, eyes narrowed. “Is she that mad about me winning the tournament?”
Even stranger, Jessica’s boyfriend was partying it up with his teammates at a table next to the VIP area. Brad Harper was tall, dark, and brutally handsome, and he was the team’s star pitcher. As if that didn’t already make him the big man on campus, Brad was also the school’s star quarterback, with a full scholarship to Alabama.
“Heeey, girls,” Kelly called as she approached her teammates. “Ready to party like there’s no tomorrow?”
“Every night,” Charlee replied. “What took you so long?”
Kelly thanked God it was so dark in there. They couldn’t see the heat that flushed across her face. She covered it with a big smile.
“I just needed a little time alone to let it all sink in,” Kelly said.
“Oh my God, Kelly!” Amber cried. “That dress makes you look like a movie star.”
Kelly posed and did a little twirl so her girlfriends could soak her outfit in. They all wanted to know who she was wearing, like she was on a red carpet or something. Kelly then noticed that the boys’ team had paused to stare at her, too. For a moment, her eyes locked with Brad’s and something intense flowed between them.
She tingled and felt breathless, even after she broke eye contact.
“So,” Kelly said, quickly taking a seat. “Why are the King and Queen sitting at separate tables?”
Her teammates knew exactly what she meant. Pretty much everyone referred to Brad and Jessica as the King and Queen, even before Homecoming had “officially” designated them as such.
“Oh, Jess is livid that Brad lost and you won,” Charlee said. “You know, her typical drama queen shit.”
“So she blamed Brad and ruined her own night out by refusing to party with him?”
“No,” Amber said, voice dropping dramatically. “They broke up.”
Kelly’s jaw dropped. It shouldn’t have been that surprising, since Brad was going to Alabama and Jessica was heading for Ohio State. So Jessica would be coming back to Columbus in the fall. But still, Jessica and Brad had been girlfriend and boyfriend since their freshman year. They fought often, but never broke up. They were two wicked little peas in a pod.
“Well, I doubt that’ll last long,” Kelly said. “Whatever. It serves Jessica right. Did you notice how upset she was by our victory?”
“I did,” Charlee said, giving Jessica a dirty look. “Bitch could’ve at least faked it.”
“She does that every night with Brad, so give her a break,” Amber said, and they all squealed with scandalized laughter. The beautiful blonde shortstop turned speculative eyes on Kelly a moment, before turning to stare at Brad. “You know, Kelly, Brad hasn’t taken his eyes off you since your arrival. I think you should ask him to dance, and really spike the ball in Jessica’s face.”
“He’s not interested in me,” Kelly said, even as her eyes cut towards him. Amber was right – he was staring straight at her. Their eyes locked again, and she felt that gaze in her bones. Kinda took her breath away. It proved damned hard to break free. “I, um… I mean…”
“Oh my God,” Stacy whispered urgently. “Here he comes.”
A thrill rippled through the beautiful blonde. Kelly struggled to remain outwardly calm and together, even as a tornado whirled through her mind. Before she knew it, Brad was right beside her, looking amazing in a dark gray suit and tie. His collar was open, with the tie loosened to hang below it.
“You look gorgeous tonight, Kelly,” Brad said. He offered his hand. “Do you want to dance?”
Kelly gawked up at him. She didn’t know what to think, what to do? She was used to Brad being mean to her, making her the butt of jokes. Now the most gorgeous boy in school wanted to dance with her? Then she remembered some of the cruel jokes and jabs he – and Jessica – had inflicted upon her over the years, and a firm NO began to form.
Dropping her eyes, Kelly looked past him and spotted Jessica still sitting at her table by the dance floor. The cheerleader had noticed Brad approaching her old enemy, and looked absolutely outraged. And that sealed the deal. Kelly placed her hand in his, and rose to her feet.
“I think I’d like that,” Kelly said with a smile. “I didn’t come here to just sit.”
Brad, whether by intent or coincidence, passed next to Jessica’s table as he led Kelly out on the dance floor. They immediately, just a few feet from Jessica, started dancing to the upbeat music. And they danced through four whole songs, until a slow song started.
Kelly wasn’t sure she wanted to slow dance with Brad, but he wrapped her up in his arms and started swaying to the music, his face just inches from hers. Her lips burned to see his so close to hers. His aftershave filled her nostrils, and seemed to dull her senses. Soon, their bellies were rubbing together very inappropriately. She couldn’t find it in her to object when his hand slid down her back to cop a feel of her butt.
It felt good. Too good.
She was really feeling it now. Her body tingled, and she wanted to mingle. Very naughty, salacious thoughts filled her mind. And then she noticed Jessica glaring daggers at them, hands curled into fists. And Kelly felt her crazy come alive.
“Oh baby,” Kelly purred as she turned around to face away from Brad, and then start to grind her butt into his groin. Yeah, she felt his erection all trapped in his pants. “You are such a good dancer.”
Brad wrapped his arms around her, one hand finding her boob. Kelly’s breath caught, head spinning when he gave her tit a little squeeze. Then he started strumming that spot over her nipple. Even with a dress and bra between his thumb and her nip, the busty blonde felt it profoundly. The sexiest sensations began rippling through her quickly overheating body.
As if that didn’t have her head and body messed up enough, Brad upped the ante by burying his nose deep in her hair. He nuzzled her ear, kissed and nibbled it, before starting to kiss a line down her neck. Kelly felt all strength bleeding out of her limbs as a fresh wave of wicked sexy thoughts filled her head.
Then Kelly felt his free hand drop to her thigh. Brad started stroking her inner thigh, slowly pushing her skirt up, up, up. She knew it was coming. She knew she had to stop him. Yet…
“Oh!” Kelly cried when his fingertips stroked her thong-covered pussy, sending a jolt of intense pleasure ripping up into her core. And her libido came alive with a vengeance. “I can’t!”
In a blind panic, Kelly wiggled out of Brad’s arms and took off at a fast walk toward the women’s room. She had to escape him fast, before she did something she’d regret.
And then she realized Brad was following fast on her heels.
