Super Mom: Taken by Evil

By Don Ship

Bethanny Mitchell frowned when the car tailgating her blasted the horn, and then passed her. In the city! The speed limit was 30. She was carefully driving 30 MPH exactly. What did he want? Alright, so it wasn’t a residential neighborhood where children played, but it was still at the edge of downtown Annarky, so pedestrians were jaywalking like crazy.

“That kind of recklessness burns my buns,” she muttered.

It was early afternoon, and she’d just been bounced from jury duty. As usual. It was always the defense attorneys who vetoed her being picked, since she almost always said the defendant was guilty. And she would know, since she’d personally arrested every one of those defendants as her secret alter-ego, Super Mom.

Can’t complain too hard, she thought. The D.A. doesn’t need my help to prosecute. Besides, being selected for the jury would’ve totally ruined my third wedding anniversary tonight.

The blonde, blue-eyed beauty rubbed glossy lips together when a news alert came on the radio, making her heart race. “Oh no.”

“This is an Action Team 24 News Alert! Police are in hot pursuit of a gunman on the Interstate,” reporter Alison Rodriguez’s urgent voice filled the car. “He is in a school bus carrying a third-grade class! The bus is weaving in and out of traffic, dangerously fast, causing wrecks in its path and slowing the police pursuit.”

Bethanny’s heart skipped a beat. She looked all around in a panic, and spotted an alley between skyscrapers. The beautiful housewife quickly zipped into the alley, pulling over to park her blue minivan next to a trash dumpster, and slipped out. After locking the door, she looked around as she smoothed down her white button-down shirt and khaki knee-length skirt. No one in sight.

“Great, it’s safe here,” she whispered, stilettos clattering on the concrete as she rushed behind the dumpster. Then she crossed her arms before her impressive chest, saying with authority, “For Justice!”

Light flashed, and blue-eyed, blonde Bethanny vanished to be replaced by violet-eyed, black-haired Super Mom.

Super Mom looked down to ensure everything was there and in good order. Each of her personas had a “set” of clothes attached, which automatically swapped with every transformation. Still, she had to physically make sure her costume was all there, and not trashed from the last battle. A white opera-gloved hand came up to touch the blue mask on her face, though she could feel it quite profoundly. It was never a comfortable fit. Her red and white vertically-striped thigh boots, with a wide star-spangled blue band around the top, looked a little scuffed. Otherwise, her costume was pristine: strapless leotard vertically striped red and white like her boots, and blue breast cups, white stars centered. A red-white-red banded choker encircled her slender throat, with a silver star hanging off it.

“Good enough,” she said, before rubbing glossy red lips together and popping them. She looked up and around before taking off like a ground-to-air missile, her waist-length jet-black hair whipping behind her like a cape. “I have to save those children!”

Super Mom made straight for the Interstate bisecting the city of Annarky. As she streaked across the cloudless sky, the busty heroine spotted men and women rushing up to the windows of the surrounding office buildings to watch her. All looked excited, and even a little awed. She smiled and shook her head.

“I do it all for you, citizens,” she said.

There were multiple interstate highways passing through or near Annarky, but only one was called “the Interstate.” by the people and media. It passed straight down the middle of the city, and was the eastern boundary of downtown. Super Mom came to a stop and hovered over the Interstate for a second. She looked both directions, and quickly spotted all of the flashing red, white, and blue police lights.

The red, white, and blue clad heroine shot off toward those lights so fast she broke the sound barrier and sent a noise like thunder booming across Annarky. She hurtled past the cops, and locked her beautiful violet eyes on the recklessly swerving school bus ahead.

As she closed, the bus drove onto the bridge, fifty feet over the river. Super Mom’s eyes locked on a small group of cops in the middle of the bridge.

What are they doing?

Then she saw what they had. Three spike strips to puncture tires and end a pursuit.

No! she thought, incredulous. Not on the bridge!

Three seconds later, the fleeing bus reached them, and Super Mom watched the cops deploy all three spike strips, just ten feet apart. Even flying as fast as she was, with the wind howling in her ears, Super Mom heard those big tires pop long before she could reach them. The school bus swerved back and forth a few times, and then crashed through the railing.

“No!” Super Mom screamed, kicking herself into full speed.

Her power of flight was a form of telekinesis that could actually lift more than her physical body, but she wasn’t sure she could lift a full-sized school bus back up onto the road. So she flew under the bus arching over the river, catching it on her back. With her arms flung out to either side for stability, Super Mom grunted under the strain as she flew toward the opposite bank as fast as she could. The bus’ weight proved too much, pushing her downward a lot faster than she thought it would. It took all of her strength, mental and physical, to reach the far bank.

But she made it, just barely.

The statuesque super heroine didn’t hesitate. The instant the wheels touched terra firma, she zipped out from under the bus and flew through the windshield. The bad guy pointed a sleek black pistol back at the screaming children, so she whipped past that monster and put herself between him and his would-be murder victims.

Pap-pap-pap-pap!

“Add attempted murder to the charges,” Super Mom snarled as she rushed him, bullets ricocheting off her now-jiggling boobs. He looked startled. “Yeah, I’m a metahuman, idiot. The bulletproof kind.” She ripped the pistol out of his hand, and then backhanded the vile bastard. He was unconscious before he hit the floor. “You’re under arrest!”

The police arrived five minutes later to find the man unconscious and bound tightly, while Super Mom comforted the children. She stayed even after the police had taken the bad guy away, and didn’t leave until another bus arrived to take the children back to their worried parents.

“My job is done here,” Super Mom said, and flew away before any of the cops could stop her. She found her car (mercifully free of scratches or any other vandalism) where she’d left it, and the alley still empty. So the busty beauty flew quickly behind the dumpster, she said, “Alter ego.”

Another flash, and she was back in her Bethanny persona.

“Well, that went well,” she said, returning to the car. “Two hours, without a hitch. And I still have time to get home before my kids get out of school. Oh, and start our anniversary dinner.”

~**~**~

Sixty-two stories straight up from that alley, three hours later…

Kimberly Strauss sat behind her polished oak desk, writing a report for the upcoming board of directors meeting. The gorgeous, statuesque blonde sat there in a scarlet silk top and black leather miniskirt, dark pantyhose, and stiletto ankle boots. Not even business casual, but as founder and CEO of Creighton-Strauss Ltd., she could wear any goddamned thing she wanted.

Her intercom buzzed. “Ms Strauss, Hollingsworth from Security is requesting a moment of your time, ma’am.”

Kimberly looked up and frowned. Why would the head of the corporate headquarters office building’s security want to speak directly to her? Shouldn’t he go through the Director of Security? She sighed and shook her head.

He’s obviously trying to get on my radar, she thought. So what he has must be big.

She quickly checked her face and hair. Makeup flawless, and she really loved her new asymmetrical bob.

“I have a few minutes,” she intercommed back. “Send him in.”

Evan Hollingsworth entered a moment later. He was a tall, medium-built man with a full head of dark brown hair, and matching eyes. The security executive wore a dark suit and red power tie, and looked a little too handsome and coiffed for her taste.

“How can I help you, Mr. Hollingsworth?”

He paused, a look of uncertainty flashing across his face. So Kimberly reached out with her Empathic Power. She felt his uncertainty, but it was at the surface. Below that was intense excitement. Bursting at the seams excitement.

She noticed him glance down at a USB drive in his right hand. It all piqued her interest. Then he looked her shapely form over with a bit too much interest.

Yeah, she felt his deep lust and desire.

Kimberly didn’t shy away from such scrutiny. The thirty year old wasn’t one for false humility. She was well aware of how enticing she looked to the opposite sex. Indeed, she deliberately accentuated her sex appeal and used it on a daily basis to further her personal and corporate goals.

“Yes, my tits are spectacular,” she said. He went cold emotionally, shocked and now worried. She smiled, which relieved his stress a little. “Thank you for staring. Now, do you have a reason for coming directly to me, instead of going through regular channels?”

Excitement consumed him again. So much excitement that she had to tone down her Power digging into his head before it started seeping into her own head.

“Yes! Excuse me, ma’am,” he said, turning bright red. He handed her the USB drive. “External security cameras recorded something earlier this afternoon, ma’am, and I thought it best to give it directly to you.”

Kimberly quirked a brow, and then inserted the USB drive into the laptop on her desk. Sitting, she crossed her long, shapely legs and heard Hollingsworth’s sharp intake of breath. A fresh smile tugged at the corners of her glossy red lips as she accessed the USB drive. There were two files: Alley1 and Alley2. She clicked on Alley1.

Her screen was instantly filled with a camera-eye’s view of the north alley, between her building and the one next door. An alley decidedly empty of activity. Before she could ask what the issue was, a mid-priced minivan pulled into the alley and parked next to the trash dumpster. A very beautiful blonde exited the car, nervously looked all around, and then dashed behind the dumpster.

Kimberly gasped, eyes huge, when the unknown woman quickly crossed her arms, and was consumed by a bright flash of light.

“Super Mom?” she gasped out.

“Yes, ma’am. Super Mom came into the alley as her secret identity, and changed before our eyes,” he said. “We used face recognition software trying to discover her name, but came up empty. She’s not anyone famous, or wanted by the police.”

“Yeah, I doubt Super Mom’s alter ego would be a criminal, Mr. Hollingsworth,” Kimberly said, heart racing and struggling to breathe normally. “Wow. Super Mom.”

That video ended, so she clicked on the second one. It showed Super Mom returning, transforming with a flash back into the beautiful, busty blonde, and driving away.

“Thank you, Mr. Hollingsworth,” she said, pulling the USB drive out and clutching it tightly. “There will be a little extra in your check this month. I want this kept a strict secret. I want a list of everyone who’s seen this, or knows about it, by the end of the day. No one is permitted to speak about it to anyone but myself and Mr. Creighton-Strauss. Understood?”

She felt his excitement flagging. He expected more? She wasn’t sure what else she could do other than give him a bonus.

“I understand, ma’am. Thank you.”

Kimberly broke out in a cold sweat while watching Hollingsworth depart. She had to sit there a few minutes before she could regain control of her excitement. It had been a long time since she’d dealt with Super Mom. Five years, in fact.

I haven’t seen her since that last hug when I retired as a super heroine.

It wasn’t easy being nice to that super-powered bitch way back then. What no one knew at the time was that the arch villain, Overmind, had gotten to Kimberly. He’d seduced the powerful empathic heroine, and made her fall in love. Head over heels in love, in fact. She couldn’t be a super heroine and love an arch villain, so she’d retired her costume and settled into domestic bliss with Overmind’s alter ego, Samuel Creighton.

And one month later, Super Mom captured Overmind and sent him to prison for five years. Fortunately, he’d gotten out after three due to good behavior.

Three years of living Hell for me, she thought.

Kimberly had learned, shortly after her lover’s capture, that she was pregnant with his child. The little girl was born after Samuel went to prison. She’d lived on welfare at first, but eventually started a successful home-based online business.

Meanwhile, Samuel spent his time in prison inventing products for Kimberly to develop and sell. His genius knew no bounds, and he proved just as good at creating products people would pay through the nose to own as he was at being a criminal mastermind. And together, they’d earned many times the amount he could ever hope to steal or extort as Overmind. And money had his primary motivating factor all along, so they went legit and made a killing.

Their company was doing quite well by the time Samuel was paroled. When they married, she’d convinced him to take her name. Strauss wasn’t sullied by any crimes. Somewhat annoyingly, he’d went with Creighton-Strauss, and she even renamed their company to his hyphenated name to appease him. But she remained in charge. Samuel was great at creating things, but he was a pretty shitty manager. Being an empath, Kimberly excelled at managing people and striking business deals. It was almost impossible to get one over on an empath.

As usual, Samuel was down in his laboratory on the fifth floor. He had ten assistants helping him, everyone busy constructing or testing new devices. Her beloved husband sat in the middle of it all at a massive desktop, an electronics drafting program running.

Kimberly paused, biting her lip. Even after five years together, and two of those married, the sight of him still sent a tremor through her body. He was the most beautiful man she’d ever seen, though not classically handsome. Actually, he had a pockmarked nose, and a stellar resting bitch-face. But he was a tall, strong, muscular, and brilliant metahuman.

She took a deep breath, even more thrilled to have something so special to show him. Something that would sing to his soul. Then the busty blonde CEO ordered everyone out. Once she was alone with her husband, Kimberly handed him the USB drive.

“Check it out, and then we’ll talk,” she said. “Trust me. You’re going to love what’s on that drive.”

Kimberly’s insides melted in a flutterly mess when he gasped. She’d never seen him look so incredulous.

“Vengeance will be ours, baby,” she purred. “We got her.”

“Who is she? What’s her name? Where does she live?”

She shrugged. “I haven’t figured that out yet. Facial recognition software has failed to give us anything so far.”

“Oh?” he said, quirking a brow at her. Samuel shook his head, and began typing on his keyboard. In less than thirty seconds he nodded, eyes focused on the screen. “She is Bethanny Ann Mitchell.”

“What? How did you find her identity so fast?”

He swiveled the monitor around, displaying a driver’s license. The picture was the woman in the alley, all right. Blonde, blue-eyed, and gorgeous. The license gave her date of birth, showing she was twenty-five, or five years Kimberly’s junior. But then, she already knew she was five years older than Super Mom.

“It’s easy. I did a search on the car’s license plates,” he said.

“What?” she cried. Kimberly closed her eyes and shook her head. “I feel like an idiot. Duh.” Then she locked eyes with Samuel. “Now, what’s next, my love? Do we exact our pound of flesh as Psyche and Overmind? Or as Kimberly and Samuel?”

“First off, Psyche is dead and gone. If you want to help me get my vengeance, then you need a super villain persona.” He looked her up and down. “I suggest Killer Queen.”

“Oh? May I ask why that name?” she asked. “I like it, but your thoughts?”

“Easy. You dominate every situation. You are a queen, born and bred,” he said. “With killer looks. My gorgeous, vicious, beautiful queen. My Killer Queen.”

“It’s settled then,” she purred, crawling up into his lap and kissing him long and deep. “Overmind and Killer Queen are about to take out the legendary Super Mom.”
