Hey folks,

Looking for your opinion on a minor matter. The more I look at the book intro scene when you start a new game, the more doubts I have about whether I like it or not.

I'm really not sure, so please let me know if you think I should keep it, kill it, or if it makes zero difference to you.

If the feedback suggest I should get rid of it, I will just use the original version of a black screen with white text to go through the introduction.

And in addition to your vote, if you have any extra comments / suggestions to make, please le tme know in the comments.

Thanks,

CG

I like the idea, but not the look of it. It looks very plain and almost business like, and doesn't fit the style of the writing. Maybe a comic book style would work better, with images and chat bubbles

The book intro isn't terribly exciting or thematically important, but I also think the book is better than just a static black screen. It definitely should be unique in some way (like it currently is) as a sign of quality and to keep the player's attention. A black screen with text is generic. Every other VN does that. The book isn't amazing, but it's unique and solid.

Lionheart

I depends on the end, Say the MC was reading his Diary at the end closing the book then it really works, but otherwise why did you use the book to begin with? Many times in life we look back and say that's not right why did I do that! Forgetting our original thoughts and feelings, its like saying a sweet nothing to a new love but years later you forgot the reason because now its just routine. We look at it forgetting our original feelings. When we really remember of how it felt when her eyes met yours from that simply whispered word a chill runs down the spine with the remembrance. but now its just a word used like any other lost is the back ground of life. Take a moment and regain the felling you had when you first clicked on the screen and saw the start of your work come to life and how you felt. Sure your skills have grown but don't forget to leave the truth for all to know you started here and the story continues with every whispered word bringing you closer to, "WTHI"

Shadows Edge

My thought was similar to Lionheart in that if the book is used in the beginning the book should also be used at the closing (though there wouldn't need to be a different book for every ending though perhaps a happy version and a not so happy version for a page of text then a scene of the book closed - maybe the back of the book).

Brianosaurus

It needs James Earl Jones' voice reading the the text of the book and animations and sound effects of the pages flipping. I'm kidding, of course, I don't have a preference.

Only keep if you’re gonna follow thru on that book theme IMO. For example having a book closing animation at the end of all the endings. Possible even having a book page like chapter intro at the start/end of chapters. Full ass it or don’t ass it. No half asses.
