Hi folks,

Just wanted to share the poll results from our last two polls.  The scores have been adjusted based on n the umber of votes per person (for example, one person chose ALL 25 options so each of their vote will only get a score of 1/25 :) ) and the scores  have also been adjusted based on Patron tiers. ($25 patrons get higher weighting than $15.  $15 > $10, etc...)

Regarding the favourite scene from EP23 (see table below):

Jenna Romance and Jenna Sex came out top of the poll which isn't a big surprise, considering the Comicon date was such a huge chunk of this episode with a lot of great interactions and events packed in there and a continuous development of the romance / relationship with Jenna.

Our bew characters scored very well with Captain Heart's minor Comicon appearance making the top four and her strip club appearance making the top 6. Evie also scored well considering her very brief appearance, although I understand the appeal as she is a very intriguing character.And even Bubbles' short appearance has edged out some of the longer-standing characters so very interesting results there.  But we are pleased that we can still introduce some new characters to a good reception (Although I  promise there will be no more new women from now on...I think :) )

And it's good to see that we can still bring a laugh to our patrons with scenes like the Jenna/Katie banter scene scoring very well (for a non-sex scene).

Bella has really dropped down in the ratings but we are hoping that has more to do with the EP23 "reveals", rather than an indication of bad scenes, but please let us know in the comments below.

I am slightly disappointed to see the Jolina / Bella beach scene (double tease and Ralph/Mildred end) to be ranked in mid-table obscurity as I was pretty happy with how that scene turned out in the end.   I also would have expected a slightly higher score for the "big" reveal in the Elaine scene, so please let me know if it didn't come as a surprise to a LOT of you or if it came as TOO big of a surprise.

And we're very disappointed to see the LARP scene score so low, considering how much blood, sweat and tears went into the making of it (and caused a lot of "creative" differences/discussion across the team!  :)  ).

Regarding who you want to see in Episode 24, the adjusted scores are:

So Captain Heart has taken the top spot which is crazy considering we just met her.  This is a character we initially introduced as literally just a tiny scene for Comicon and never expected to see again.  But then we expanded her Comicon scene AND added her to the strip-club scene because we agree that she needed more air-time.

Although if you add up the scores for both the Monica options (solo and Zarah combo),  Monica actually takes the top spot, so we're happy that Monica is still highly appealing as we head into the last couple of episodes.

We basically started on EP24 as soon as we finished EP23 (no rest for the wicked).And based on the poll results, it seems highly likely that Monica (with solo or Zarah options) AND captain Heart AND Katie will have to make an appearance in episode 24.  And as mentioned previously (and the reason they weren't in the poll) we are also planning on Angel & Wanda to make an appearance.

That's all I can commit to for now, because I have learned from previous episodes that every scene we plan ends up being a LOT bigger than originally estimated.  For EP24 we want to aim for a shorter episode (in a shorter delivery time) so I don't want to suggest anyone else for now but I will provide more details as EP24 progresses (i.e. would love to squeeze in a Lily or Evie appearance based on the two polls) but no promises for now.

The "surprise" reveal was a HUGE surprise for me. I was almost completely sure that Theresa was the third party. Great job. My top four endings in order are Jolina, Monica, Elaine, and Bella so I hope they remain options!

At the point when it happened, the big reveal was no reveal anymore. Ever since Bella showed up at the beach house, I smelt something rotten. Not to mention, she was always a big contender for you know who. I do think that she is completely in love with the MC though. As for Bella and Jolina at the beach, the scene was fun, but it was also part of the only thing I didn't like that much in the update. That the MC actually had to choose either Bella or Jolina to spend the night with. I'd rather have slept alone than choose one over the other. That and of course my opinion about Bella at that point made it pretty difficult to muster up that much enthusiasm for the beach house parts, at least compared to other events in the episode. I'd take the Beach House scene over ANYTHING in many other games every time, though. That's what you have to take into account I think, to me at least, there wasn't a bad part in this episode, it was firing on all cylinders and so, even the scenes that didn't rank that high for me, were really good as well. With the LARP part, tbh, that really isn't surprising. I mean, I was fine with it, taking so much time, because the update was so big, if this was like a regular episode and so much of it would have been spent on what is basically a random unimportant side-mission, I'd really not have liked it that much. It's interesting, because another well-liked game which updates in even bigger intervals, spend about half the last update on a role-playing session, and the reaction was much more negative than to your LARP distraction. I am honestly a bit surprised that you guys weren't aware that the LARP part could be controversial and wouldn't be much liked. It could definitely be seen as nothing but a distraction, and not the good kind of distraction, like the Captain Heart scenes. Again, it's not that it was a bad scene, or I didn't like it at all.

I liked the LARP and beach scenes myself. The LARP seemed more of a fun distraction, so maybe that's why it didn't get more votes, although I can see how it would've taken a lot of time and effort to complete. As for the beach scenes, the renders with Jolina in a wet swimsuit were perfection.

Impracticality

I think the problem with the LARP is that we're a passive participant. The girls get dressed up which is fun, but things just kinda happen; there's no buildup to raise tensions or excitement. Then it ends without any input from us (and before we learned that Jenna had a stake in the outcome). Basically it's a play rather than a LARP, and the events of the play don't tie into anything else (thematically or mechanically). I realize you must have spent a lot of time on it, but from the player point of view it's not really memorable aside from the costumes (and maybe the way Jenna ends it). Porsche overshadows it because all our focus is on her and she's basically just playing herself.

I liked the Bella scene but it made me a little nauseous due to how the camera was moving.

VN ranking

I liked Jolina & Bella scenes most and they are my two favourite female characters. The gold digger reveal was a surprise for me and I liked it very much, it seems quite realistic after all. Of course I can't acquiesce such behaviour, so I hope I'll have a chance to tell Bella off and maybe even break up with her in the next episode. It's good there's so many female characters because everybody can find a girl in his taste but it's obvious you won't have sex with the escort girl when you are with Jenna, especially when she is looking. The fact that you can resign from some girls to be faithful to others is also enjoyable.

I actually like the larp scenes but it's more of a play . Also I like captain heart character wish she was involved earlier and woven in . Maybe go back and add her and make it make sense like another friend of Monica or maybe a sister/aunt character where we find out she was famous before idk. Great job overall

Yeah.... I didn't like the LARP stuff at all. I know you put a lot of work into it, but it didn't do anything for me and took me out of the story. And frankly the big reveal was great and I thought it was well done. I think there was some disappointment because it still is open... there are still questions and Bella and Joline have not been confronted yet. So while it was great, there was still no real resolution yet. I am totally guessing this is the reason it wasn't higher.

It's a kick in the teeth situation here when EVERY part of an episode is a homerun and people have to narrow it down to 1 or 2 moments. There's 22 episodes worth of build up with Jenna (with potentially minimal consequence drama along the way) so it's easy to have the emotional connection to those scenes. Captain Heart is the polar opposite with immediate reward with a new (beautifully designed) character who has two scenes. Evie is something very different up to this point in the story so there's a natural interest to want to explore more. The Jolina stuff is, IMO, the best relationship/storytelling in the episode but it's tied to all the Bella baggage so I can see people not connecting to it as easily. Top tier art, clever writing and foreshadowing, just unfortunately tethered to people's feelings around the reveal. I wasn't surprised by the goldigger's identity but the flashbacks calling out previous scenes were a nice touch to make the reveal feel earned. I'm surprised the Elaine scene scored higher than Jolina (not that there's anything wrong with Elaine's stuff just not what I would have expected.) The only solution to all the tough feelings is to release an epilogue of a threesome with Jolina and Jenna with LARPing in the bedroom. It will win the epilogue poll I'm sure haha!

Shadows Edge

I think the double tease with Jolina/Bella fell flat because of how late it is in the game, having two established love interests in the same scene it would have made more sense to have a threesome than a choose between them scene. I think overall most of the material was good and most of the responses have been relatively positive towards the story though angry with some of the characters (even people who said they thought Bella was Dizzy all along seemed to react strongly to a feeling of betrayal).

As I said before, it would have been easier to do a poll on least favorite scene. 23 was an amazing update. So many good things, including the “disappointments”(your wording, not mine). It’s just you outdid yourselves, overshadowing success with greater success.

I was kind of wondering about Jo's involvement. I had my suspicions about Bella for a long time. I even mentioned it in a post quite a few episodes back. Some guy tried to argue about it. He's looking really dumb now. 😂

Bit disappointed that so many people want to see a scene with captain heart, rather would give the scene to a storywise more important character.

I was also disappointed with the Debbie scenes. She is my favorite and taking her to a strip club as their first real date? IDK... just made Debbie seem less than what she is. Granted, hers is a difficult character since she says she prefers girls, but still. A strip club? I got a lot of vibes from her through out the story, but a strip club was not one of them. This is my main problem with this game; the MC is basically an ass hole and it's hard to play him differently. Taking her to a strip club on the first date just seems to show Debbie what he really thinks of her. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with guys take a girl to a strip club and maybe further down the line it would fit, but IDK... first real date?

Ep 23 was a great update imho. It was unlike any other with the massive Comicon setting and the not so interactive LARP scene, but the package as a whole was fun & enjoyable There wasn’t a single scene in it that I considered “bad” and I enjoyed Ep23 just as much, if not more than previous episodes. So it was very difficult to highlight one or two scenes as being my most favourite. I would have preferred giving a score out of 10 for each scene you nominated. The “big” reveal in the Elaine scene wasn’t so big for me… Bella had been my prime suspect as the “golddigger” for some time, and I was already aware that Bella & Jo were likely a secret item. Earlier in the game Jenna’s spyware on Jo’s laptop captures vision of Bella in the kitchen of Elaine’ house. The MC though doesn’t pick up on this when he views it on Jenna’s desktop. Notwithstanding this I still appreciated the entire reveal scene with Elaine. I wouldn’t be too despondent about the LARP scene…it may have lacked the usual interactivity, but it was really well done, allowed your newly introduced sfx to shine, and was a welcome change of pace. It was made all the more entertaining in light of the Jenna/Porsche feud over MC brewing in the background. I invited both Jo & Bella into the beach house, but as I had intentionally maintained a neutral relationship with Bella (she was my golddigger suspect) I ended up with essentially a Jolina solo scene…I couldn’t have been happier and it was great (thank you for not forcing the MC into a 3-some). It’s already been commented on, but I just wanted to say that I also found the Debbie strip club scene a little disappointing in that I was expecting their long overdue first date to be on a more emotional/romantic level than on a physical one, and thus in a more appropriate setting. And finally, I’m not surprised by Captain Heart’s popularity in the 2nd poll. The very flirtatious scenes with her at Comicon, her stature as a strip club owner/operator, and her open invitation for MC to visit her at the club solo has not surprisingly piqued a lot of short-term player interest in her character. Bit of a tease/setup!!
