Well, I have come up with a story for you. Next week I'll write and rough it out, and the week after I'll start drawing. Once I have a buffer I'll start running it on the website. I've enjoyed putting the comics up complete on Patreon the day they start on the website but it might take me a few "issues" to build up enough spare weeks to start doing that again. I will continue to add hi-res PDFs when all the pages are done.

Here's what might be the cover, but if I change my mind and think of something better, won't be the cover. But it's something to look at in the meantime, right? I polished up the logo for the second run.

My only fear with this cover is that it makes it incredibly obvious what the issue is about.

Obvious? Not at all. I mean, well, yes. But there is some ambiguity as to whether that's a pelican or albatross

Jason Clements

Was the Belgian seagull-imitating competition an inspiration, by any chance?

Sails

Murdered by a seagull in a boxing ring. Her only weakness.

Pete Ashton

Ah yes, gull boxing. That noble sport.

Jon Sibley

Yes! This is just what I need. Even though the cover really clearly tells the whole story Love the new logo.

Jon Sibley

Now, go get BOOM to publish it 👍😁

Jack Christmas

Wonderful, it's always a comfort to see these two! I mean, not quite as much of a comfort as it would be if Lottie were verifiably conscious, but still.

Jon Sibley

OK, fair enough. I am old school, so always wanting the dead tree version.

Sean Kinlin

She's not dead yet. She's getting better!

Sean Kinlin

Her puffer was no match for the furious beak.

Sy Bram

A new Solver fills me with joy!

scarygoround

The thumbs down was for Boom publishing Lottie. I intend to print all the Solvers from 2022 and 2023 when I have chance. I like a book collection too!

Jacob

Looks great!

David Patterson

Though still disappointed about how the Conan story turned out, I can't be any less than excited for the return of Solver!

Rich

Tis only a flesh wound!

Rich

Yes to a new Solver!

Pierpaolo Di Camillo

Yup. Obviously a tribute to the most recent Hayao Miyazaki's movie, but here is the Heron that try to kill the main character. I'm happy to see "Solver" again. Thank you.

Brian Durcan

If you only read one seabird-themed forest-based illegal fight club comic this spring, make it this one!

Ken Kleinman

Looks great! PS Is it OK to give Conan away? Privately? To your friends*?

Matt (not that one)

'"O yeah, O yeah," said Macho to the other, "The cream hath risen to the top, my brotherrrrrr !"' -- Samuel Taylor Coleridge, probably

scarygoround

I have no control over what you do, Ken, just please don't get me thrown into the "hoosegow"

Michael Ben Silva III

Who I wonder would stand in for the albatross? Or maybe shooting the albatross is a finishing move

Alec

Very excited for more Solver

Jon Sibley

This makes me very happy. Can't wait!

NickPG

"Stormy Petrel on a stick"

Ross Webster

More Solver is always welcome, especially after the cliffhanger the last story ended on. Very excited to learn if Lottie has met her match with this seabird or if this is just some kind of Hitchcock homage.

Marissa Carter

I always resist the Patreon preview in order to savor the story and now I'm kicking myself. Ken, it's been a pleasure being such a close friend of yours for all these many years. If you're whispering about Conan, I promise to keep it between us!

Marissa Carter

Sir! I'm sorry this has all been so demoralizing, but you are a saint! To clarify–NOT one of the martyrs, but one of those who had a long and satisfying life of comic productivity. We all appreciate your dedicated endurance!

Katherine Wharton

Thank you, John! Don't push yourself too hard - I think we're an understanding lot.

William Cole

Waterfowl in general are threatening. Take geese, they're like little dinosaurs!

William Cole

Yuss! I knew The Man couldn't keep our Johnny down for long!

Ross Webster

As someone who was recently attacked by an angry Canada goose, I can attest!

Marc Arsenault

'incredibly obvious”? The squared circle? The sweet science? My face is my fortune?

Sean Kinlin

They haven't yet built the man, that can keep old Johnny down.

scarygoround

Thank you Katherine. I have to do something with my days, and I have a regime designed (after many years) not to exhaust myself. I'm not good at sitting idle.

scarygoround

Let's just say that my days of writing seven pages of script in the morning, having lunch, then drawing a whole full colour page from scratch in the afternoon are necessarily behind me.

unspiek

I was enjoying Conan, but this is more my type of thing! Looking forward to this project!

Martin

This! Very much this! My good friend Ken.

Matthew Hartwick

Are we not fans of Boom? I missed that part.

Matthew Hartwick

Clearly Lottie’s been knocked out after one too many rounds vs. a fishing bird in her secret forested fight club ring. I didn’t see this coming.

Zakrael

I don't know if The Ancient Mariner is a good wrestling gimmick or the *best* wrestling gimmick. "The Mariner is lining up his crossbow... and THERE IT IS! HE SHOT THE ALBATROSS! BAH GAWD, THAT MAN IS BROKEN IN HALF!"

Ken Kleinman

I'm in the boat with you Marissa and Martin. I hope someone will throw us an oar.

glenn

Wot? Judge a story by it's cover? Even then it might be only a Temporary Cover, so I'll read it first, great mysterious subject or not, thank you!
