I was at a convention this weekend and there were a lot of spontaneous and gratifying comments about Steeple. It will not be back any time soon, but I never say never and have huge affection for the project. While on the phone this evening I doodled the characters and here they are. Apologies for the quick photo in low light but I am very tired and weak after several days of constant talking.

I like whatever Billie’s trying to achieve with that expression and pose

Stretching and limbering up before engaging in mischief?

Orgying without proper warmup & cooldown is a recipe for injury!

Ahhh...I just did a Steeple re-read and am about to read Reverend in Love. I think it's my favorite of everything you've done (maybe because I have a friend who's a Satanist and one who's a Methodist pastor).

I love to see Tom looming there! He is one of my favorite characters in the whole JA catalogue.

Were a lot of the comments about self-publishing the remaining issues? 😉 I love and miss Steeple. Whilst I would be up for you to revisit it at some point, it is a perfect complete story as it stands.

A couple of people asked and I explained that I have no control over the publishing of vols 1-3 so publishing a volume 4 to the same standard as the DH books would not be a good "business move" as there's the potential to end up sitting on a lot of stock of a mid-series title. But most just wanted to tell me they enjoyed it. It's not impossible that volume 4 might come out still, but it's not imminent, shall we say.

What ever happened to IRON SOD?

It was lovely to meet you at the convention! I will come prepped with questions next time (only now are they coming to me ('I bought a skeleton jumpsuit from Generic Costume Store for Halloween and it wasn't cheap - how much did Beale spend trying to undo Lottie? revenge? in THIS economy??')) - and I shall soon find the perfect place for my stickers! :D

Great to meet you too, Haydn, and thank you for this question. I thought about Beate's source of money a lot while writing this story. The most realistic thing, I thought, was if she had come into a modest inheritance at 18 and was burning through it in her pursuit of Lottie. So by the time she reaches her endgame, the money has almost gone, which is why she is living in pretty reduced circumstances when we see her plotting to drop things on Claire. There wasn't space to do anything more than briefly allude to this in the actual comics.

This is a great answer - adds an extra tragic edge to Beate, so determined to take down Lottie she's actively acting against her own self interests.

Would a hypothetical Volume 4 include “Reverend in Love”?
