When my sabbatical ended I had left myself some time to make something short, to get back into the swing of things. There was no necessity to actually run it if it was no good. I improvised out a script for this on the Monday and drew it over the next week or so. In one sense I didn't do quite what I wanted to do - I intended it to be loose but I drew it very tightly. But it turned out much better than eight weeks off would have led me to expect. It runs on the website over the next two weeks, but here's the whole thing.

Your next PDF comic will be here in two weeks - Destroy History: BLIGHT #1.

Oh John! This a most unexpected treat!! Susan is such a natural for noir-ish corporate espionage. I should have seen it before! Blight #1 of course looks bemusing and intriguing. I'm already curious if this in any way connected to NEMS or an entirely different time-traveling escapade!

scarygoround

It's connected to NEMS in the sense that it has Esther and a Nemulon in it.

William Burns

I'd wondered what that defunct Egyptian dynasty was up to!

scarygoround

Cleopatra was a hard act to follow but they're still making good stuff.

Rob Cottingham

It's the Burn Notice reboot we didn't know we needed! A real treat and a half — *and* a new Destroy History to look forward to. (I have guesses about the subject matter that I'll keep to myself to avoid a) spoilers and b) looking foolish.)

Pete Ashton

"an investment in easy passion was just a downpayment on regret." is one of those great lines that veers between sense and nonsense in my head. Could be Bogart, could be Leslie Nielsen.

scarygoround

This story bordered on automatic writing so it's probably a bit of both.

Hugosthere

Will we ever get the back story to how Susan ended up here? And what about McGee?

Steve Jeffery

That was eight weeks off well spent. Astounding. So much story in just six pages. "You should call your wife..." 🤣👌 If you ever decide to relate just how Susan came to be struck off, well I guess we'll just have to see if the muse strikes. Thanks so much.

Patrick M Fitzgerald

The hard, gritty world of pharmaceutical representation! No wonder all our medications cost so much!

C Cooke

Oh my, so sad for Susan. She seemed to have it all together at the end of Giant Days. I too have spent lonely hours under a florescent bathroom light at 2 am thousands of miles from home questioning my life choices.

Claire

treats, treats

William Burns

John has come back tanned, rested, and ready.

Sean

"You should call your wife, Karl" - top dad joke there

Rich Holmes

I'm beginning to see the blight...
