FOX FLAKES

I don't think anyone has ever seen this before. I don't remember making it, or why I made it. It's only one page.

It doesn't scan to my liking, which makes me think I did this when I was "overtired" aka making up work to give myself a holiday from the huge pile of work I already had. It's from 2011.

SIMON THE SENTIENT CHIMNEY

2009. No idea. No idea at all.

In the same trawl, I found a huge cache of guest strips that have long been lost to time, some by future Eisner Winners, stars of animation and even a Carnegie Medal winner!

As a quick sample, here's one by James Turner, who continues to dazzle and delight across many media...

...and Kelly Vivanco.

The Scary Moosh

I remember you and Tom Siddell making guest comics for each other, but they're becoming increasingly difficult to find.

RJ Dial

With so many bad comics filling up GoComics and the like, never really understood why there are not more out there like these. Maybe JA just found the sweet spot of characters that translate across all styles and mediums. Amy and Shelley are instantly recognizable no matter who is drawing!

David Patterson

I love the Fox Flakes poem and drawing. Thanks for sharing John.

I don’t think I ever did a guest comic for Tom.

The spirit of William McGonagall is not dead :)

That James Turner strip is incredible. So much fun!

The Scary Moosh

Then I must have imagined it based on one of those he did for you. Purely theoretically, if you did one, who would it feature?

John Bowers

In the early days of SGR, I remember guest strips being fairly frequent and often delightful! I'd love to see you resurrect more of these.

Gunnerkrigg isn't a comic I've followed for a very long time, I don't remember a lot about it I'm afraid other than that it was well written and drawn.

William Cole

Someday, Simon's story will be told.

Hmm, what was lost in the caravan? The knickers, or something more ephemeral yet still knickers-adjacent?
