Three comics from June/July 2018 that I don't think ever ran. Each betrays the state of mind of the author at the time ie f*ck this sh*t. Not a good time for my mind, I was burned out beyond belief. But in retrospect, each is interesting.

Love the Shauna and Lottie panel. Amazing how you bring that teenage anger, sadness and frustration to life.

Fuck brand synergy, indeed. It may well be a reflection of your mood at the time, but you particularly nailed the more dour facial expressions.

The Lottie and Shauna strip feels very real

Makes me miss the Erin Winters Era

State of mind or no state of mind, these are wonderfully nostalgic reading.

Wow, you were in a dark place then.

curious if the events — though unpublished — remain canon in your head

I think the idea for the continued Bad Machinery was that the sixth form at Griswalds was closed down and the kids had to leave the school at 16 and get split up, sent to different educational establishments with very different characteristics. I think this is still canon, certainly it is mentioned in Solver that Mildred went to a different college to Lottie and Claire. If memory serves, they enjoyed a paid-for final two years of education. The important thing to note here is that I really didn't want to make more Bad Machinery comics, but I needed to keep making webcomics in case my efforts in the US comic industry came to naught or faltered. At times like this, more of the same was/is all I can think of. My instinct was right - the market for US indie books has really shrunk into something hard for me to fit into as easily as I did in 2015 - but there are times where you just need to stop and take a breath rather than soldiering on.
