Lets go back, back, back to the past. Savage Gabrielle is so wild in comparison to the still innocent Gabrielle we have right now.. but of course Xena was going to save her wife in EVERY UNIVERSE.

Hm there’s an audio issue at 43:00, the show audio starts at the beginning but your commentary and the video is current. 💕

Great reaction overall. I love this episode because Xena gets the chance to learn that even if she’d made other choices, there would still be loss, and that she has done good in the world - not only by killing the bad guys but also by rescuing Gabrielle / villagers. I see that as reaffirming her path toward atonement. The hard Gabrielle is tough to see! Renee does great, giving us a glimpse of this Gabrielle, without the warmth we know and love.

Love this episode a lot , it sort of grows on you 😁 love to see Xena and her brother, clearly the wrong brother died 🤪 and Xena choosing to save the Gabrielle she knows over her brother is a quite powerful moment, it's so good 😁 the world indeed is a better place with Xena Warrior Princess in it

Let's unpack how excited alternate timeline Xena was that her brother & Gabrielle were making googly eyes at eachother. Usually Xena is unspokenly jealous of all of gabrielle's boyfriends of the week. Here. She was all 'my two precious perfect little beans together'. I was like...what? Lol

YES I NOTICED THAT! “As long as she’s in the family I’m grateful!” -Hunter

Yes my initial thoughts are “I hate this world for Gabrielle” therefore it gets a low rating. But the deeper meaning behind it is so strong. Like what do you mean Xena had the chance to save all the people she’s killed in the past but she didn’t because the one true friend she’s ever had wasn’t the same. Giving up those lives and her brothers life, for little old Gabrielle 😭 -Hunter

I don’t know dude, if she’s been putting the weeding off for 10 years she might not be that in too you.

Speedy! Thank you :)

Xena also gets to bring her mother back to life, so it's one brother traded for one wife + one mother. Although she doesn't really seem to even remember about mom, lol. Btw, I like mom. Maybe Hunter will too, when she gets to know her better.

Xena was delusional if she actually thought she would be able to live in this world and never shed a drop of blood in anger. Even before Gabrielle showed up, Xena was itching to run some of those bad guys through. No way she could have gone the next 50 years or so without stabbing somebody! I've always really liked this episode. Renee's performance is great. Then seeing her back to being bouncy little Gabby at the end is so sweet. The episode gives Xena some much needed closure about her brother's death and allows her to accept a bit of her past. And I just love that moment where Gabrielle not only kills somebody, but does it with such obvious pleasure. It's like she's lost part of her soul. And Xena knows that's something she just can't allow to happen. Then her brother says "don't fight destiny" which is like his permission. Gives me chills.

Yep, its pretty monumental when you think about the fact that Xena would rather go back to a reality with the guilt of her brother dying and the burden of all the people's shes killed in the past rather than see gabrielle hurt.

Xena realizes that the life she lives with Gabrielle is the life she’s meant to live when she gets a second chance. The season 2 episode, ‘Remember Nothing’, is a very interesting episode to me. We have the first of what we’d call “AU” or “Uber” episodes. The Fates intervene when Xena wishes that she never followed the sword in the first place, as she had just killed a boy that was helping a group of bandits destroy the temple where she was honouring her late younger brother, Lyceus. The Fates offer her a second chance at a life where she never killed in cold blood, her brother was still alive, she was still engaged to her town beau, Maphias, and she was just a simple villager who never killed and only knew a basic level of combat so she could defend her village when raiders would attack her homeland. All that aside, Xena lives a relatively peaceful life in this Universe. However… the life of Gabrielle is not so peaceful. As fate would have it, Xena bumps into her once again despite not having ever turned evil and reformed back to good. Because Xena never rescued her in the events of ‘Sins Of The Past’, where they first met each other in the former Universe, Gabrielle was sold into slavery. Therefore, because of the harsh reality she lives in, her heart has turned hard and cold. Not the Gabrielle Xena is used to knowing. Long story short: Xena saves and frees Gabrielle from being a slave to Mezentius, but Gabrielle wants vengeance and she angrily kills him in cold blood. Xena willingly gives up her second chance at a peaceful life to stop Gabrielle from going down the same dark path Xena went down when she first killed. The Virillus token, which protected Lyceus from dying in the alternative Universe, is what the boy, that was killed by Xena before her fate was changed, is wearing when she returns to the former Universe. Representing a second chance. Personally, I think the episode should have been called that instead of ‘Remember Nothing’, as it makes more sense. She remembers everything that happened so I don’t get why they called it that. I’ll have to look it up at some point. Here Xena learned that her fate was always right from very the beginning, as Cortese still invaded ‘Amphipolis’, Xena’s hometown, and Gabrielle was still taken as a slave, and she couldn’t do anything about it because she had never experienced her period of darkness, and then reformation because of her own men turning against her. Most importantly, that her and Gabrielle were destined to cross paths with each other regardless what alternative Universe they were in. And as Xena learns later on in their adventures, her and Gabrielle would still meet in all realities, reincarnations and denominations of the afterlife they would experience together, because they were bound not just by fate, but by their very soul. As they are, as I explain in my character study thesis, one soul in two bodies, whether they be lovers in all or not. So, this is why this episode is very interesting. It depicts the lives of Xena and Gabrielle had they not met each other when and where they did in ‘Sins Of The Past’. This was the life they were meant to live without anyone or anything intervening in their fate. Including The Fates themselves. There’s always that one path that even fate cannot control, as fate represents what cannot be controlled by the self. And if you ever took any important message away from this show, it’s that destiny is not created and predetermined by some god or omnipresent being or deity of any kind. It is created and determined by the self! That’s the path fate cannot control. The chosen one of the soul. The created and determined destiny!

Once again - she’s just drawing parallels to herself. She thinks if it’s not her, Lyceus is next best thing. Those two were always much closer than her and Toris were and I think it comes down to who they are as people. Wiling to put the greater good before themselves instead of the other way around. Of course Xena would want Gabrielle to be with a person like that.

I just love how she has that little crease in her forehead. You just know something is really off with her when you see that crease.

Nice poker face from Tash on one innocent little line which takes on a whole new meaning later on! IYKYK.

And I also like to assume that they're waiting to get married to have sex, so the guy should just take a hint at this point 🤪

Bribrirandomluv

It's interesting to see Xena grapple with dealing with Gabrielle losing her blood innocence or losing her brother again.

2 Girls 1 Episode

She literally chose Gabrielle’s innocence over her own brother. Damn… -Hunter

At the beginning of the episode the guy was using capoeira moves, a Brazilian martial art that mixes fight, dance and acrobtics. During a capoeira *roda* there's away music and the practitioners follow the rhythm.
