Also, Charlie's tendency to automatically go to negative, stable self attributions ('Stupid. I'm so stupid.') totally fit and make sense for someone who develops depression amongst other things. (I'm a psychologist)

Aaah I'm glad you agree!! (Very cool to hear that from a real psychologist!) Charlie definitely already has a pretty bad self-esteem problem, which is no doubt a contributing factor to his eventual mental illnesses.
