Yes, Nick needs to talk to Charlie and he will but right now he needs to just feel that intimacy and love. He’s been feeling so alone and so down and it’s not just about sex. It’s about feeling safe and the closeness and yes feeling good. If you’re not in an intimate relationship, you wont fully understand but he will talk to him. I have faith he will, just right now Charlie even recognizes Nick just needs him and to feel that love and extremely special bond.

That middle panel🥹 where Nick looks up at Charlie and Charlie looks right back so deeply, both of them blushing and smiling, so wholesome and pure, sharing such a reciprocated affection, and a warmth, and so much grounding hope, and ALSO with have that perfect mix of an understood sweet yet flirtatious and very suggestive daring aspect, is literal PERFECTION. It's like Alice is showing us what it means to be really SEEN and LOVED (from Nick and Charlie's POV). Everything she captured from the way Charlie calls Nick back from focusing on the (reasonable) fear of David being home with a tender but also sassy offer in a way that only Charlie can do, "we can be quiet" (reminiscent of his similar reassurances at the very start of this Volume when Nick was worried about them "only" having 10 minutes)...to the gentle hand hold on Nick's head, supportive but with Charlie's thumb drawn in just the right spot to calm and support Nick is so...THEM. Nick and Charlie have one of the best kinds of connections out there...they continually meet each other in the softest, most selfless ways. Charlie KNOWS Nick is struggling about something, and Nick now knows it about himself a bit too, I suspect...but, I think Charlie can tell that talking can come later. Nick needs to regain some semblance of balance after all that has been building and then being really thrown off with David's sudden move back home. And It appears that Charlie and Nick have agreed on the best way to restore that balance...❤️‍🩹✨

I think Nick can not talk now, and it is a way for them to connect. My main question is, say it with me, lol. Will this become a pattern? In terms of David, lock the door or put a chair in front of it. (My then toddler brother one time barged in on me and my then partner once and freaked out, so after that, my boyfriend would put my heavy wheelchair in front of the door when we wanted privacy.) I suspect he won't open up after sex, though, so Charlie getting advice from an adult might be good. (Also, I agree with people that it is really good to see them comfortable sexually now.)

Bless their hearts. 💕 I hear a lot of people saying sex isn’t always the answer, and that’s correct, but their emotional bond is DEEP. And while it may take longer than ideal for them to talk and the delay could potentially lead to some conflict, the conversation WILL happen eventually, and they will work through it. Honestly, talking before you’re ready can be a recipe for everything to come out all wrong, too. They’ll talk when the moment is right (or when it smacks them in the face), but in the meantime, Nick’s (and maybe Charlie’s) love language is definitely physical touch, so they need to maintain that connection. Not being physical with each other during such an uncertain time for Nick would make things 100x worse. It’s going to be OK!

Ok so thoughts, Nick and Charlie having lots of sex is to be expected like, their teenagers who have just started doing it for the first time. I know the fandom has started to joke about how much sex they have been having but now that we're starting to see Nick struggling with opening up to Charlie, talking about his feelings in general and being stressed about his future, it wouldn't suprise me if sex becomes an unhealthy coping mechanism for him, which could be worsened if Charlie doesn't know. I think this could be another strand of their co-dependency

I suppose Alice could choose to go this direction, but the amount of sex they’re having is really typical for allosexual 17-18 year olds who have been dating for two years. And for someone who is still struggling to name his feelings and is worried that those feelings might offend or hurt his loved one if he doesn’t articulate them carefully, it makes total sense that Nick would seek physical connection until he can find words for his feelings. It’s also really OK to seek the comfort of physical intimacy with your safe person when you’re feeling unsteady. It’s more than OK - it’s a beautiful thing! If it becomes an avoidance pattern, that can be dealt with. But for now, it looks like a boy who doesn’t quite know what he’s feeling but does know that physical connection with his safest human would be helpful in the moment. That’s my take on it, anyway!
