The way Charlie can go from a very seductive "we can be quiet" vibe to a panicked "omfg, is the door locked" all while Nick is VERY happily lost in the moment...I love the way they can almost lose track of the whole rest of the world when they are together. I also love that CHARLIE is the one giggling at Nick's "what could happen if the door wasn't locked" face in that bottom panel...it's reminiscent of Charlie's "where are my pants" moment while Nick, totally smitten and amused, watched him jump around his room, but now Charlie is the smitten and amused and SHIRTLESS one! When I was growing up and getting handsy with the boyfriend at my parents house, I always had a lock on my door. The BF did not have a lock on his door at his house so we would use his desk chair and wedge it so no one would barge in. Charlie looks like he's enjoying this 😉. So happy he's enjoying this new confidence and comfort with Nick!

I have to say, I find this page amazing, with Charlie being shirtless while Nick is going down on him and still has his shirt on. And the face of freedom and trust he has on is really showing how much Charlie has evolved in his own self confidence and self worth. Absolutely love this evolution. IIRC Jane said implied it was a family policy rather than Charlie-specific, and given he was still in the early stages of recovery and Jane didn't know Nick was there, I don't think it was unreasonable.

I thought the same thing! Just these tiny shifts in his body, drawn so subtly, communicate something so big. Same with the way the border of that comic box looks like it’s starting to break apart into sparks. I love how Alice uses these little details to hint at what’s happening off screen.

Yep that was my thought too… Charlie wants to ‘take care’ of Nick but Nick is happy to ‘take care’ of Charlie first 😉😍 you can see in the first panel Charlie is attempting to take Nick’s shirt off… sometimes giving vs receiving can build up your self esteem which I think Nick was needing here. He wants to do what he’s good at :)

I think (US pov) that a bedroom door lock is the only way to guarantee privacy. I suppose if you live somewhere where people respect a closed door and will knock (& not just enter) or leave it alone all together, respecting a closed door as enough indication that you’re not wanting to be bothered, that’s great! 😃

Yeah I have a feeling that having internal doors in houses that have locks is a fire hazard so the reason that we don't in the UK. I could be wrong. If a person locked their door and fell asleep and there was a fire it would be harder to wake them and evacuate them. Also, it's etiquette to knock on closed doors. Knocking and opening immediately is just not OK David and Jane!

My brother bought a door lock that worked on regular doors. Very handy! In my teen years, I asked my parents to install a lock on my bedroom door and they did. There was nothing like the "open doors only" policy like there is at the Spring house!

Hi Alice, I love Heartstopper, just to get this off my chest! I have a wish for season 4, if we get one, and in the Web Comic. When Nick and Charlie have sex, it looked to me in episode 8 like Nick had the stereotypical role of the muscular guy who is the top and Charlie with his physique is the stereotypical bottom. I would wish young gay men, who watch Heartstopper could see that they don't have to be just like that, but they can be versatile. When young people like Nick and Charlie do research on the internet, they find these educational "short films" about guys who really like each other's bodies. In those they generally see these stereotypical positions for them, that's what I've heard from friends who do research 😂 Either there could be some scenes in the next season, Heartstopper style of course, or at least a conversation between Nick and Charlie about it.

Hi, me again. I know this is about the web comic but...I live in Germany and when Season 2 came out I whatched one of my favorit scenes in ep 8, the talk at the end, also in the german dubbed version just to see if they got that amazing acting of Kit and Joe right. It made me almost vomit. Why are they allowed to change the lines? When Charlie talks about the SH and Nick asked "Do you still do that now?", what does the german Nick say? "Bitte mach das nicht mehr.", which tanslates to "Please don't do this anymore." WTF!!! Alice, please forbid dubbing companies from changing the content. It's fine if language-specific or country-specific references are changed, but something like this is, in my opinion, even dangerous. It's almost like saying to an alcoholic or drug addict: "Oh, just stop drinking or taking drugs, it's easy, just stop doing it!"

I can’t imagine - there’s so much content across so many platforms now and as far as I know, it can’t be regulated by the govt other than ensuring the rating matches the content. Free speech = creators gonna create. (And if schools or libraries are regulated by ignorant bigots to not carry Alice’s work on their shelves, that’s one thing. But they can’t take it off of Netflix). Also every actor and creative seems to have been backing Harris. Thought that would come out in her favor but I think a lot of people were tired of being told what to do, so got suckered into voting for a dictator (or sat out & didn’t vote). The irony. But anyway yeah, there will always be new content because the actors and the people want it. Remember we’re a capitalist society above all! Ha. I've watched it again now and realized I didn't understand it right all the time! I also understood "please don't do that now" in the english version all the time 🥲. So I think maybe they also understood that and thats why they translated it wrong...? 🤔 Or maybe, because I also watched it in German a couple of times, mainly when I'm not completely sure, if I understand it in the right way, I also understood the English version in the German way. 🤔 (I'm from Austria and I watched S1 and S2 in English and German, but I never watched S3 in German because in the meantime I also already thought it's weird to hear the actors in other voices than their own and when I read things like that, now I'm even more happy that I've never watched it in German! 😅) But now I know his real answer/question, it is even better! 😅😅🥰🥰 So thank you very much for mentioning that @CountHS!! 😊😊 (And sorry for the really long message, which it has become! 😂)

Hi Elena, I'm not sure how the dubbing process works but I assume they get a word for word transcipt of the shows. I don't think they have to watch it and make notes. In the shower scene Nicks says something like, "...give me 2 minutes, I can walk you home". German Nick needs 3 minutes. Whyyyyyyyyyy😒😒😒😒😒😒 Sometimes they have to adjust things because of the lip movement and what they say but in that scene and the scene in season 2, you can't even see the actors mouth. It is just anoying. I think the dubbing directors or writers think they have to "improve" shows. Sorry for the rant, again. I think I put it to rest now 😀
