Shirley Hatton

Poor Charlie, let him sleep it off 🫂

Ulises

I really hope they do man 😢

flynn tasker

charlie as much as i love your enthusiasm that golden retriever aint talking about his feelings tomorrow ❤️

Lydia

methinks that talk will not be happening tomorrow 😵‍💫

laura

“mm” is not an answer nicholas!! 🤨

melly2oo

Jeez the insecurity 😭💔

tess ^_^

i am incredibly upset

Tracy Donlevy

Fingers crossed for talk tomorrow 🤞🏻

Chloe ♡

nicks one word answers as he falls asleep avoiding the conversation for another day 💔

Victoria Rezko

At least it's a start. Sleep, dear ones.

Dionne Lakey

Ooh that pause in the 4th frame ... Nick's not sure ... and now Charlie knows

K

Please talk tomorrow I can't take it anymore 😭😭

Ciara B

Poor babies

Roks

I’m dying.

Allegra2346

Speaking of tomorrow, Charlie now might be a good time to text Sai and tell him that Nick is definitely not gonna make the game 😬

J

That's not firm yes Nick, Nick give him a definite yes Nick

Realiti

I wish Nick could really open up to Charlie. I really like it when they help each other out of trauma in the past and deepen their relationship 🥺

bluefern

Maybe wait to talk till tomorrow afternoon though. Nick’s not going to have a pleasant am either.

gaby

oh i am bracing for impact tomorrow

Rocky

Tomorrow…..tomorrow is just too far away!! I’m intrigued to see how this conversation plays out!

Xalek

He's optimistic but it's a start.

Krystyn

Tomorrow 💫

Nikki

Charlie’s sad eyes and Nick’s wobbly speech bubbles are kinda heartbreaking right now. So is seeing Nick sunken into his pillow and looking so small. Wanna give them both a hug 🥺

Katie H

My heart us breaking with how sad they both look 😢. Nick doesn't sound too sure about talking tomorrow and the way his back is to Charlie not looking at him shows that he's shutting down and not ready to talk yet. But I'm glad that Charlie is always there to support Nick, not giving up on him and letting Nick open up at his own pace

KimS

The emotional distance in the fourth row of panels is heartbreaking. Charlie facing Nick and Nick turned away with the panel break between them. That conveys so much realness - loneliness even in the midst of true love

Amber Elle

I hope their discussion will be helpful to Nicholas. And maybe he will speak to his insecurity to Charlie 🥲

Lynn0816

I don’t like that Nick has his back to Charlie , they need to be closer , even if they don’t talk until tomorrow. ☹️

aubrey

it’s so hard looking at how desperate charlie is for nick to open up, but nick’s built up all these walls that i don’t even think he knows are up to protect himself from getting hurt and now he’s pushing away the person he fought to try his best to help. i feel so deeply for nick here because that’s exactly the way i am too. i hope he finds the strength in himself to open up to charlie 🥺

Merel

Please do 🙏

Barb

Hope tomorrow will really be tomorrow😢, but at least nuck hinted his thoughts😭

Merel

Nick is facing away from Charlie, I don't think he'd be able to admit this if he had to look him in the eye...

Elena

I was sitting there and made a loud "NOOO" - not tomorrow, now... 🥲🥲

Harriet Echo

I can’t wait for brighter days for these boys! 😩😅😭🥵

Agosława

I kinda think it's possible that Nick really is not sure what exactly happened to him internally and would need help from someone like Geoff to figure it out

Amanda Wetterer

Nick just needs to open up to Charlie. He will understand and still love you!!

Katha

It’s a start, isn’t it? 🙏

Ai Bui

A moment of appreciation for Charlie handling this entire situation with so much love and grace while maintaining both firm boundaries and proactive communication ❤️

emily

nick doesn’t seem too set on talking tomorrow… :(

Merel

Hmm I don't think Nick actually believes something would happen between Charlie and another guy. It's just his insecurities playing up. Charlie seems to be thriving while Nick feels stuck and unsure about pretty much everything right now. Seeing that guy flirt with his boyfriend, while he was already in a bad mood, brought everything he doesn't want to face to the surface again.

Melanie

I feel like Nick’s hesitant “yeah” is more to do with him thinking that Charlie could do so much better than him rather than a fear that Charlie would pursue anyone else. This low self confidence Nick is super sad 😔

Ai Bui

charlie: i will sic geoff on you istg 🤨🤨🤨

Maddy

Please join me as I scream in frustration... AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH... ty.

Merel

Given that today lasted over a month, how long will we have to wait for the conversation tomorrow? 😅 /hj

Jo-Ann

Nick better throws it all out tomorrow 🥲🥲🥲

Maddy

As much as I hate tonight, I think I'm actually just as scared for tomorrow.

Elena

My hopeful mind has fooled me that THE TALK will happen. 🥲

Maddy

NICK! CAN YOU PLEASE JUST FLIP OVER AND LOOK AT HIM 😭😭😭

Lorna O’Neill

I feel like we're all going through this with them 😭 the way Alice draws their expressions is just so amazing I feel like crying just looking at them! Also that yeah was so hesitant but Nick has to know Charlie only has eyes for him ❤️ the poor boy just has such low self esteem at the moment it's heart breaking 💔 I really hope they do manage to talk tomorrow and that "mm" is just because Nick is drifting off but definitely doesn't fill me with confidence that he'll actually talk about the big issues!

Noemiette

Spoiler: I dont think the talk will happen tomorrow X_x Well, I think Charlie will remember they said talk tomorrow, but Nick still has his walls way up. I like these shots of Charlie's POV. Seeing him talk to his back, and not being able to read his face. I honestly think it's going to require someone else beside Charlie to have him open up. There is so much mess of emotions in his head that involve Charlie that talking to him first will be even more difficult i fear. We are back on the topic of them being each other's world, but especially here Charlie for Nick and about the fact that they need other people

Elena

That just really made me laugh so much hahah 😅😂😂 It really helps to forget whats actually happening right now between them! 🥲🥲

Maddy

My goal is to help everyone suppress their feelings 🥰

toneelspeler

the extreme avoidance tactics nick's employing is so relatable but so detrimental to his well being. if someone is not able to have him sit down and have a hard talk soon... an implosion must not be far off unfortunately.. time to talk!!!!

Katha

(Don’t hate me. I still like this slow pace story wise. I think it makes so much sense, makes it so real, even if it’s hard to watch if you go one page a day like we do. And of course if you care so much about the characters as we do)

TT

I’ll bet he goes and it’s awful. He was already struggling at practice and got triggered by their jokes about him being useless when Charlie isn’t around. A terrible game, where he feels to blame for losing, might finally break down those walls.

Jmejimz

The measured way Charlie’s is handling all of this (so far) without letting his emotions boil over is a testament to how helpful therapy can be! I know my teenage self would NOT be handling this is such a mature way, lol.

Blissnfaith

I really feel for Charlie here. If my partner shut me out like this I would spiral hard. 🥺

Jasollie

Charlie, maybe before Nick falls asleep, just give him a little big spoon cuddle and tell him how much you love him and that you’ll always be there for him? I know Nick isn’t afraid of Charlie actually cheating or anything, but I think that could really help Nick hearing that right before he falls asleep after the awful night. Also really worried this talk isn’t going to happen tomorrow again and then I just worry about the page count in this chapter and how it’s ever going to unfold. But of course, I have trust in Alice as always. 🩷

Elena

Oh my god, if that also lasts 1 1/2 months, then I don't know what to do! 🥲🥲🫠🙃

JRob

Nick has no idea. He knows the jealousy happened & the drinking was connected to it, but he hasn't connected the pieces that the drinking was triggered by deeper insecurity

𝑽𝒊𝒓𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒂

yes Charlie, it's better to talk tomorrow. but please hug him now and tell him that everything will be okay and that you are there with him.

Steph

I really hope Nick remembers everything that happened tonight. And I hope he doesn’t pretend to not remember in order to avoid the hard conversations. Nick has so much to sort out and Charlie is so worried. Even though it’s been like 1.5 months for us it was just this morning that Charlie was anxiously looking at his breakfast. I hope this doesn’t cause him to relapse again, that would make Nick feel even more horrible and guilty and like he doesn’t deserve Charlie. These boys need to talk so bad. I hope it’s coming.

Larisa

I think he doesn't know, Charlie 🥺😓

JRob

💯 Charlie needs Sarah's "you can't fix him alone" pep talk, then needs to tell to Geoff about taking care of himself while helping Nick get help.

Elena

I don't think the talk will happen tomorrow. Maybe they will have a conversation that touches the surface, but I don't think the connection to his feelings will be there as much as now. So Nick won't understand his feelings better than now. He will talk with his brain, but not with his heart. Do you know what I mean? 🥲

Justin S.

The silence between that “yeah…” 😕 Nick….

Beam Bugge

that means the conversation will actually happen tomorrow (both in-universe and for us) right? right???

Lovelyarts

I don’t have a good feeling about tomorrow. I just want them to talk! I feel for Charlie he just wants Nick to open up, but it looks like he keeps putting walls up.

Nyssa Rawther 🍉

Omg Charlie's smol little worried face 🥺🥺🥺 PLEASE TALK TOMORROW, NICHOLAS 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

JRob

I agree. I hate the waiting, but this story needs to be given all the time it deserves.

Lisa

Oh Nick, please stop shutting Charlie out 🥺🥺🥺

TT

Alice does SUCH a brilliant job of storytelling. It feels painful to watch it unfold one page at a time, but it has all been necessary to properly tell this very important story. 🥺❤️‍🩹 I hope Mama Sarah notices something is off with her baby too. She’s usually pretty tuned into his struggles and knows how to get him to open up. And I hope Charlie isn’t left alone to help Nick through this. The same thing applies in this situation. That is a LOT to put on a sixteen year old’s shoulders—even one who has been in therapy and learned healthy coping skills and strategies. You can see the way Charlie has been fighting off his own intrusive thoughts and other triggers. Alice, thank you for never shying away from genuine mental health struggles. Your work is so needed in this world.

CinD

I think it’s time for Charlie to get Sarah involved or to at least get Nick to talk to his mom. Sometimes we need an adult to help with the big issues like seeking professional help.

a book dragon

It's so powerful reading Nick as being so clearly fallable, insecure, and with the challenging perspective of being a teenager. While this angst has been difficult to witness, it's so healthy for Charlie to go through this with Nick and fully experience being the centered, healthy partner while Nick spirals a bit.

Juliana Barhorst

Yes please talk to someone Nick. Charlie or Sarah… a therapist? Maybe then you can start to feel better sweet boy! We love you 💗

Maddy

Alice, If this continues any longer, I may need you to start providing a Geoff for all of us. 😭

Madeline Hutchinson

It’s painful to think of the parallels from chapter five, where Charlie was refusing to talk about his mental health. Nick wanted to help him more than anything, but Charlie was so scared to talk about it. Now, Nick is struggling and understands how hard it is to vulnerable about things like this and Charlie sees how hard it is to watch the person you love struggle, but know you can’t do anything until they open up to you

Andruwu

We are getting there slowly but surely! ❤️

Glenn

This may be nothing but does it mean anything that Nick is facing away from Charlie in the bed?

The Sarah E

i feel like everyone is making this so much more than it is… like, when you’re young you sometimes just don’t know your limits and drink too much (especially when your friends keep offering you more) and ultimately it’s not that deep. just partying with friends and it goes too far and there’s not some huge underlying reason. as for the flirting dude, like, yeah… nick had a conversation with the prick about charlie and then he turned around and pursued a flirty moment with charlie anyway. drunk or sober i could see how that would piss nick off. not that nick thinks charlie would leave him just that the dude thought he could get away with something… in the morning he’ll feel stupid about it but also i don’t think it’s all some mental health crisis and very normal young person stuff

Theaterboi27

Tomorrow, Char?! Ummm, isn't it tomorrow right now? Please please do not even remotely accept "mmm" for his answer. This is most definitely not the tin can you may kick down the proverbial road. Or is it the proverbial tin can? I don't know. Alice, you're the writer amongst this lot. Probably should leave the metaphors to you. And Nick. Yes, you are currently feeling crap, but you know, you totally know, your abnormal antics of this past evening will require some addressing stat. The time for some significant soul searching has arrived me thinks, young man. Eerily sad though, how Nick's back has replaced the locked bathroom door as Charlie's newest barrier to breach. Roll over, Nickie, and gaze into those baffled, love filled eyes of your heart's desire.....and just talk to him.........

Sulagna Maitra

Poor Nick! 💔 Charlie isn't going anywhere, sweetheart. Your Mom and Charlie...and possibly Tori 😉...you are stuck with them forever 🥲 ...(I didn't include Nellie bcoz I realise she must be getting on in ages and I can't bear going there ...)

Jessica Richards

I see what you're saying, but in this case, the drinking is just a symptom of what has been going on with Nick. The concern is not "is Nick an alcoholic" or anything like that. It's that Nick has been avoiding dealing with his feelings--specifically, his anxieties about going off to uni and leaving Charlie--to the point where it is affecting his mental health. His drinking is just another way he is avoiding dealing with those feelings, and it happened to have several unpleasant consequences.

Rebel Hart’s The Invisibles Podcast

The parralell between this night in bed to the night of Nick's nightmare. Wow. I know we've experienced a month & a half of the Green Dragon 🐉 night but that nightmare happened so recently. He's really just gotten down to the deep root of the issue for himself so recently. In the sober light of day Nick will likely feel bad both physically & emotionally but hopefully with all the love & patients Charlie has shown him he can begin to open up. I can also talk for so long about how Charlie's ability to just be there for Nick , not taking it personally, is a big sign to me that therapy works. Charlie's level of emotional intelligence is really a testament to how hard he's worked on his own mental health. Now he's able to be there for his loved ones in a way that his mental health wouldn't allow him when he was struggling. When Charlie shut down he got quiet & stopped talking to people, even Nick. Nick shutting down is more in the form of breaking down & laughing it off. Being overly attentive. Withdrawing his own needs internally in favor of caretaking. Probably something he learned from early childhood.

Jessica Richards

I mean, on one hand, at least Nick started talking? I know he stayed on the surface, and that *pause* before answering Charlie spoke volumes about his insecurity. It seems like he still hasn't put the pieces together about what's causing him to be so anxious, so talking more might not help, unless Charlie starts asking specific questions. I personally hope he encourages Nick to talk to Sarah and a therapist, asap.

Pitter

Nick still has a rugby match tomorrow!

Jenna Craig

can we take a sec to acknowledge the physical split in the panels between them during that pause??? Literally representing the distance between them in that moment?? Alice strikes again 👊💥

The Sarah E

i totally see that and he definitely will feel better when he talks about it. i just don’t foresee this leading to a huge fight or anything more than an eventual cathartic feeling vomit session… after a very tough game of rugby haha

Robert

Please you two. Do talk. Have to feel a bit sorry for Charlie too. He looks sad; almost as if he's not sure Nick believes him.

camelotcrusade

Not every partner is ready to talk at the same moment you are. I had to learn that the hard way, and sometimes I'm just as uncomfortable waiting for the right time as they are not speaking up when I want them to. We'll see what happens, but I can vouch that sometimes, waiting is the right thing to do.

Flor D. la Peña🍂

I just read a couple of comments saying that this story doesn’t have the same vibe that it had at the beginning and it makes me sad that you guys are not remembering that this is heartstopper, everything it’s fine at the end and it’s a very realistic story ! Nothing it’s always joy in real life and even less in couples that have been together for quite some time and that’s what I love about this narrative, just please trust Alice, idk I think that if you read everything that they have wrote then you have nothing to worry about 🫶🏼

Cliff

Nick doesn’t know how to verbalize his emotional state still. He needs help! 🙁

ucfnurse

Pillow, blanket, sleep😴😮‍💨☺️🌙✨🫶🏻💞🌺🌸🌼🛏️💫✌️🕊️☮️

Lare González

I love that the papers have been reversed, many times we believe in what is perfect, but behind that "perfect" there is a person with real feelings who may not be going through a good time and even so, it will always be for you, pretending to be well when you are not. moment when I realize that this is love.

Ania W.

Why do I think Alice's comment on today's page is just Charlie's wishful thinking? I have the impression that Nick will continue to avoid serious conversation (especially tomorrow - when a serious hangover hits 😵‍💫). We must remember that the first step to therapy is understanding that we need it. Nick is on the right track, but without someone else's helping hand, he may continue to pretend that he is fine 💔

Ania W.

I think that if this story was only beautiful and joyful for 6 volumes, it would become boring. The characters would be flat and unrealistic. Alice creates a beautiful story with a happy ending, but a real, human one. Relationships are not only about joy, love and butterflies in the stomach. It is also about dealing with problems together, supporting each other in difficult times and simply being there for better and for worse. I love, appreciate and will continue to praise Alice's ability to create this beautiful and wise story🍂

JRob

Charlie's more emotionally stable at 16/2-ish years of therapy than I am at 40+/30 years of therapy!!!

JRob

Right. A comic can't show every day of their lives - we know how fun and flirty they are. Alice is showing us a glimpse into the realities of being young, queer, Human. It's not all puppy dogs and oak leaves.

RCM

Nick's first couple of words, "I dunno..." and his last couple "I just felt crazy," kind of sum up his whole evening at the Green Dragon...on one hand, I am glad he is (sort of ) answering Charlie, and with his eyes open so we know he is awake and pretty aware of what he is saying. But the fact that HE doesn't ROLL over and FACE Charlie hows how crappy he feels about this night, and more importantly, about himself. Nick cannot let himself look Charlie in the eye...he would lose it, for sure. He remains locked in to the same position in all the panels, literally unable and unwilling to make the slightest move towards Charlie, towards vulnerability (and even though he was just puking, if it was just nausea that was keeping him from rolling over, I am pretty sure he would be able to tell Charlie that). It's Nick, scared to move because that risks exposure, and he learned a long time ago that exposure about his own feelings is not always safe. And since this is Charlie, HIS PERSON, facing him might open up a crack in Nick's "wall" (aka heart) that he won't be able to control or stop (or to protect Charlie from) and I think that still feels way too "I dunno, I just felt crazy" for him...he's never had this space (outside of potentially some moments with Sarah) where he was fully seen, where he might be able to open up about his past, his anxieties, his uncertainty of himself and his future ,and, even worse, how do you tell the person you love the most about issues you have that also revolve around him without hurting him?!...all of this has built up to a paralyzing self doubt we see perfectly portrayed on this page by Nick only facing AWAY from Charlie. Of course he would never doubt that Charlie would cheat on him...all of Nick's emotional lability tonight came from his own mental health struggles and his procrastination in facing them (and I get it, Nick...it will hurt before it gets better...I'd procrastinate too...). "What if New Guy IS kind of cool (cooler than me), and what if he has more to offer (is he smarter, does he have more hobbies) Charlie...starting with more experience ( I mean, they did have a point about sexual exploration, right?!). Charlie deserves the BEST of everything...and I know he is happy with me...but...I don't even like me right now. How can he?" Meanwhile, we have that beautiful second panel of Charlie intently listening as he keeps his eyes trained on Nick (well, the back of his head, anyways), and then, he tries to lighten the mood and reassure Nick, "nothing would ever happen." But what really gets me is his gentle roll toward Nick, that look of hope on Charlie's face, saying "hey, silly, it's me, it's CHAR," along with the way he gently grabs his pillow with his right hand to pull a smidge closer, closing the gap between them somehow, with that lean in reminder of his presence to Nick...oof. It's heartbreaking when you love someone and can see and feel they are hurting, and they can't (or aren't ready) to accept your help, your support. Charlie knows this, and I really appreciate despite the obvious worry and concern on his face in that last panel, he just lets go of the pillow, giving Nick a LITTLE more space, but he doesn't roll away, or even roll over, and doesn't dream of leaving. He just stays...CLOSE ("okay...I'm here, okay? I won't leave you”), with a not forceful, "Maybe we can talk tomorrow, yeah?" which is actually a "I love you way too much to let this go without circling back." Nick (still without moving) is already closing his eyes, probably from exhaustion, but also from his coping way of "forgetting/shutting things out" that he has. Oh, Nick, I wish you could see yourself the way Charlie sees you. Even when you were on the floor of the bathroom, even right now...Charlie's face speaks volumes, and it is all for you, Nick, it's all for you. Let him in.

Angie Michaelis

Yes! This perfectly captures that feeling of being lonely even when you’re not alone. Heartbreaking. 🥺

Chandler Ritch

One thing I figured out when dealing with a drunk person, wait till they are sober before talking with then

Angie Michaelis

I agree. I also think he was more affected by the comment those two made about Charlie “missing out” than by the concern that Charlie would do anything when the guy flirted. He seems to think he’s holding Charlie back. 🥺

Zachary White

I feel like if sober, seeing your partner get flirted on is great opportunity to notice how uninterested Charlie was in the cute boy coming at him lol

tara😽

nick baby you’ve got to TALK to him!!!

Angie Michaelis

I have a feeling Nick will avoid talking tomorrow, in part because he’ll be so hungover (although I bet he tries to play in the match anyway), but I also don’t think he understands his feelings yet. However, I don’t think Charlie is going to let this go so easily now. Tonight confirmed his concerns about Nick not being fine. It’s so hard to watch them struggle. I just want to hug them both. 🥺

Jennifer Paddock

Why is that close up of just the top of Nick's ear so beautiful and heartbreaking?🥹❤️ Alice, your art just blows me away!

Lea

does nick think charlie will move on when he goes to uni nooooo😭

Jo S

I understand that Nick 1) is feeling unwell 2) that he is stuck in his own head 3) he doesn’t understand that he needs to be vulnerable and speak to Charlie but he must see that his actions are pushing Charlie away and for someone who is worried about anothers’ approaches tonight this obviously isn’t the best tactic? Has Nick got to the point where he doesn’t see a future in their relationship ? Is Nick feeling that low that he feels Charlie would be better off with someone else and he is trying to push Charlie into ending their relationship as in the reverse of Nick and Charlie? In N&C it was Charlie that got drunk and couldn’t handle his emotions and pushed Nick away! Nick needs to show Charlie he cares even if he can’t speak or understand his feelings yet 😞😞🥺🥺❤️

Jordan

I’m going to be so sad if (but maybe when?) we get another “last night was so weird haha” moment 😭

Jordan

A tiny detail here I love - the domesticity of Charlie’s shirt change 🥹 either he keeps extras at Nick’s or he’s borrowing something 💜

Jordan

The volume in what Nick chose to *not* say…about Tao/Elle fighting, about the unkind comments re: “missing out” 🥺 very realistic and I love what is happening here in terms of what we know/don’t know as the audience

Calfic

So thoughts. At the moment, I feel so bad for Charlie, but I feel worse for Nick who can't even articulate what he is feeling. He may be pushing Charlie away, by what he is doing, but I don't think it is a conscious choice (yet.). My first long term partner had serious mental health struggles, akin to Charlie, and it took so much for me to open up to him, because my "mundane" issues just seemed so trivial. (It wasn't even that I thought he couldn't handle it, just that my "small" MH issues didn't really count). He actually had to tell me that we weren't in a contest, and that whatever I was going through counted too. (Thinking back. I've had to be told that multiple times, lol.). As someone who relates to Nick WAY too much (Similar issues, for different reasons. Got to love internalized ableism and needing to prove myself in every aspect of life.) this is just a REALLY critical story for me. It isn't easy to read, but it is SO impactful. I could have saved myself a lot of struggles if I read this as a teen. My hope is that Charlie, tomorrow, talks about how he is capable of, and wants to be there for Nick, even if he rambles a bit.

oddtree

Charlie's worried eyes 🥺

Calfic

True, but I think that it is crucial that we focus on this, not just in relation to Charlie and what may happen with them, but I think it is long overdue for them to have a discussion for the mental health of Nick, as well.

Calfic

I think that Charlie would be VERY understandably upset, if Nick said that.

Calfic

Also, this chapter is called "forever". They are a wonderful couple, but aren't ready for forever yet . I thnk this chapter gets us there. Which means some hard things need to be addressed,

Calfic

I mean obviously. I bet he didn't even turn on a light, just picked up a shirt, lol.

ZooKeeperHere

I think this is all so real - especially when you remember that they are teenagers. In their first relationship at that. They just don’t have the experience and maturity to get to where a discussion about this needs to go, especially Nick who does not have the benefit of all the therapy that Charlie has been through where he learned how to identify, label, and communicate about vulnerable topics. I guess this is how they learn though - even if it gets a little messy while they figure it out.

David C Witkin

Nick's heart is so big, but like the rest of him, tonight it's exhausted. It's been doing double duty of feeling emotions and loving and protecting people, and doing its best to protect Nick and make sure he is never exposed and at a catastrophic loss again. Nick's poor heart is way more tired than his poor stomach, which isn't doing so hot either. Luckily Charlie's heart is also big, and a little bit smarter, so it knows what questions to ask, and when to ask them, and when to back off. Charlie knows something is wrong with Nick, so even though he's going to give him space tonight and let him sleep, he's not going to forget about it, and they are definitely going to have a more in-depth conversation, probably after the rugby match. Charlie is a smart, practical person, and he knows not to have a huge discussion when Nick is still drunk, sick, or hung over. So he'll wait. With patience and determination. Because he's Charlie. And he loves Nick. And Nick loves him.

Calfic

Yes. Like Nick's reaction to Charlie trying to help, wasn't healthy, but I guess I give a little more grace to him, than I would, if they were fully adults. And I think Nick is having an emotional breakdown, which may get messy, but if there is movement forward, than that is good. I just don't think we can expect Nick to act "perfect" in this situation.

Cole Morin

I love that Charlie comforts him by letting him know nothing would have ever happened with that little shit head from the pub lol. The boys need a good night sleep and hopefully they talk in the morning!

Murgy

Oh Nick, I know its hard, but I hope you can open up soon. Charlie is there for you, even if you feel alone he is in your corner. But I get it, feeling vulnerable isn't easy to deal with, especially when trying to share what is making you feel vulnerable. In this case doubt, fear, confusion and a diminished sense of self. (I don't know who I am without Charlie) I'm glad Charlie isn't pushing right now, but the two of them need to talk. Hopefully after the Rugby game in the morning. Depending on if Nick is in any state to take part.

Elena

I hope Charlie tells Nick, that he loves him, whishes him a good night and gives him a good night kiss, even without the talk really happening. 🥺❤️‍🩹

Elsie 3

I don’t know if Charlie is even thinking about it at all, or if he’s so caught up in caring for Nick, but I just wish I could be his friend a day later to say “I know you love him and you are here for him and you know he’s hurting and want to help him through it and he is SO lucky to have you….AND this was a big night for you and I bet you wanted to celebrate after with your boyfriend and instead you had to deal with him overacting to someone flirting with you and then take care of him for the rest of the night…and it’s ok for you to be disappointed about that. You are amazing and loving and it’s ok to be disappointed by how he showed up for you tonight.” I know he just loves Nick so much and I don’t know if he would even give himself permission to feel that…just feeling all the feels for these two right now.

Lolli98

Good night, boys. I hope you sleep well.💙 It really has been a loooong day. You made a good start talking, Nicky. Please talk some more to Charlie tomorrow, so he won't feel left out. He loves you so much and sincerely cares about you. And so do we.❤

Calfic

Yes, I agree, but it should NOT be on Nick. As Charlie has said and demonstrated, he knows he has friends, Geoff, and his parents when they aren't being annoying. He may need to rely on them more than usual right now. Just like we held grace for Charlie to be inner focused when he was going through the worst of his MH, it needs to be the same here.

Brittney

Wow... I mean as you look back on volume's 1 through 5 it kind of was Charlie's story in a way like mentally in a way, because here's a 14 year old boy dealing with a lot, a shitty boyfriend, not knowing too much about his past and then Nick walks in the picture and everything for once, felt right again. But Charlie's mental health was getting the better of him and then towards the ending of volume 5, we see how much Charlie has felt more at ease with his mental health trying to find the balance I mean sure we all will have our shit days with mental health but in a way, it was a little easier for Charlie to find a level where he felt like himself again. Meanwhile seeing how Nick dealt with that, like it did pull a effect on Nick, like seeing the love of his life go through this and it was kind of hard for him, but he knew Charlie had to get help, and that was fine, but knowing deep down Nick doesn't know who he is without Charlie, it's just proves how much Charlie was helping Nick with everything, like truly Nick wanted Charlie always by his side during his coming out because Charlie was the first person that made Nick feel more loved that he ever needed and plus, on top of that it made Nick realise that it's okay to take your time that there's never any rush. You'll be coming out constantly throughout your life, but finding the right people is totally fine to tell. But I think now because we're on the little stretch of that soon Nick will be graduating like it's stressful but also on top of that, he is dealing with so much more. I know he has his own pace to tell Charlie, and he'll tell him, but for right now it's just cracking my heart piece by piece if any of this made any sense 😅

Was there not an alarm on nick’s bedside table?

If I were Charlie in this situation I’m pretty sure I’d start crying and my partner would essentially be forced to talk it out with me lol. Not saying it’s the healthiest or best response, but I just know exactly what would happen if I were in Charlie’s shoes. 😅

Aww poor nick l do hope he opens up to Charlie tomorrow he needs to let it all out as will feel so much better when he does as Charlie just wants to be there for him just like Nick was there for Charlie everybody needs a support system 🫶🏻💕x

Angie Michaelis

Good point, I didn’t think about that. And his friends were distracted as well, with Tao storming off and Tara worried about Darcy. I’m sure Charlie is still wondering what the hell he missed.

Of course! Totally not on Nick- and not something he needs to even bring up with Nick. I just want there to be someone in his life to say “it’s ok to feel disappointed” while also totally empathizing with Nick and not blaming him. I feel like it will actually give Charlie more space to be there for Nick if he can have someone else in his life - Geoff, Tori, Aled, idk, with whom he can say “that’s not how I was hoping the night would go.”

OMG yes, the internalized ableism, sometimes combined with imposter syndrome, for me. Like, "It's not THAT big of a deal, others are dealing with way worse so I shouldn't 'complain.' I don't really have mental health issues, I must be faking it." It took me SO long to realize what was actually going on in my brain, and with my feelings. So if Nick can start understanding this now, it will help him so much in life. 🤞🏼

Yes, I have been there. I feel like Aled, might be particularly good.

Yes please…let’s talk after breakfast, medicine and some tea!

Hearting_NoOne

What’s the odds on tomorrow? Cause I’m guessing low.

🥺🥺 Oh nick, Charlie, they have to talk at length, they have the confidence to help each other as much as possible😔

First toast, tea, and paracetamol. Then talk. 🙂
