The more realistic version : Nick is having a shower or is in the bathroom/kitchen, thinking about everything that happened… trying to figure out how to talk to Charlie about it, being scared not to be understood, or worse, telling himself it was just a bad evening and that everything is okay now…

I bet Sarah Nelson woke Nick up in time to get in the shower and get ready while she cooked him a hangover -friendly breakfast and sent Nellie upstairs to wake Charlie while Nick got something in his stomach so he can face the rugby match. My guess is that Nick and Sarah are in the kitchen and waiting for Charlie to come downstairs. My other guess is that Nick is feeling horrible but they won't even be late and they might even get a chance to talk after the match.

If Nick would have been his normal self the last three months I'd love this page. But now it brakes my heart to see Charlies concerned and sad little face in the last panel again. I don't think any of us have asked the really important question: Does Nellie wish Charlie a good morning, or mean that it is a good morning whether he wants it or not; or that she feels good this morning; or that it is a morning to be good on?

Not the bestest girl Nellie coming in clutch, AGAIN...remember her support way back on Snow Day, her little growl when David came in Nick's room, and her reassuringly sitting outside the bathroom supporting Charlie as he said I LOVE YOU for the first time? She watches and picks up on everything, and her innocent little SNIFF SNIFF is the sweetest...I mean, we know she KNOWS Charlie's scent super well by this point, so her soft insistence here is more about a "Hey....psst...he's awake, time for you to wake up too! You know he needs you even if he says he is fine..." Nellie's little close up panel shows exactly how all-knowing she is...she's modeling for Charlie what Nick needs: show up, lean in, touch gently, maintain eye contact, and don't dare leave. Be there...just be there. AND DAMN, those two TWEET TWEETS feel like Nick is so close to opening up but is still not all the way there...usually we see a pair of birds when change is about to happen (Like back in volume 1) but now, we can only HEAR the birds, so the change/growth need is there, yet we cannot clearly SEE who is making it as they are still hidden behind the partially closed curtains. This parallels how Charlie knows (and Nick too, sort of) that there is SOMETHING that needs to change, to grow, to be let out of Nick, but it's still hidden, still buried, behind Nick's mask, behind his inability to articulate, behind his childhood trauma that really he doesn't know how to even begin to process. But it's chirping louder and louder whenever Nick has his guard down...sleep, alcohol...Charlie's surprised look at the empty space next to him is mirrored so cutely by Nellie's perked up ears like she too is trying to sort Nick out, but all they can feel is missed opportunity, like now they have to reconnect to get back to that grounded place where they can openly talk (it'd have been easier to roll over and have Nick in his arms when NICK woke up...Nick would have been mush right away!) I have this feeling Nick is downstairs pouring tea into the N+C cups, making toast, and thinking about how he wants it to be "perfect" when Charlie wakes up after all "Charlie" went through last night...but we will see. One thing keeps hitting me though...while I really want them to talk, I know that this is a journey Nick is going to have to take as an INDIVIDUAL...one or three talks with Charlie (the love that he is) won't cut it. Nick does need to HEAR that Charlie sees his pain and his hurt, and thinks he needs to seek help/therapy...but that Charlie will be right beside him supporting him, but Charlie can't and shouldn't FIX this for Nick...it's showing how they can and must grow as individuals, TOGETHER...it's learning to mature in their own selves all while also being in their beautiful, intimate, supporting relationship...and it's not easy, but it's worth it. I promise, Nick, it's worth it ...to little Nick, to current Nick, and to future Nick...listen to Char...

I think I should stop now, because otherwise it would never have an ending.. 😅😅

While I'm sure waking up to a happy Nellie is a nice experience, the question of where's Nick is there as well. Especially after how ill he was last night. There is likely a mundane answer, because he does have the rugby game later, is likely in need of a shower after last night to feel more human and quite possibly needs food. Still, it would have been good if Charlie could have at least seen Nick was ok when he woke up, but there is a Nellie there so Nick is likely fine, if hungover and full of regrets.

I have to agree with you, but I think that in my opinion Nick is going to the rugby match, he really cared about it in my opinion. However, as we have seen in the previous pages, Nick can't do anything ''right'' at the matches if Charlie isn't there to cheer for him!! I DON'T KNOW
