I just love how Alice manages to put sooo much feeling into just a couple of panels. We love the domestic bliss but we are all still worried of what’s to come for both Charlie and Nick. Neither seems to be doing well to be honest. A mixed bag of emotions 🙂🙃

So, this is a really. really sweet moment, and Nick is valid for his guilty feelings. And Charlie looks so happy. It's so cute, and I love when partners make breakfast for me! (Even if I am more of a savory girl, lol. ) Here is my worry, though, that Nick will be focused more on not being perfect for Charlie, as opposed to what he is going through. Whereas Charlie is just worried, and wants Nick to open up.

Wow, this page was so worth the wait today! 5 panels full of details, different facial expressions and emotions! 😮🙂 Charlie is especially beautiful in the first panel. 💛 And I'm glad that Nick is smiling, too! Also I admire him for being able to make breakfast when he was just sick.😬 I think they will have a start of a serious conversation here...with Charlie showing his concern. But where will it go? Don't mind me, I'm just lying here, being so relieved and calmed down, since they are cuddling and being lovely to each other again. To sum up: "Everything is fine now.", as Charlie would say. Aww Nick you sweetheart 🤧🤧 so much that is troubling him a lot and he is trying, I know how hard it is for him like it's just how hard it was for Charlie to open up about his mental health, it's not exactly an easy shell to open. There's many and I mean MANY tough layers to crack before you let someone in and even then you don't know how the outcome will go. I love how British and Australians say that for getting drunk "pissed." Okay, now, after I enjoyed my long lasting moments of relief and my excitement about this page takes over 😅, I can't help it, I need to analyse this lovely page a bit more! 😊🥰 The first panel could just be called: "reCHARge" 🥹 It's the moment, where they know, that mainly sh*t night is over and they are able to enjoy themselfes and hug each other, without anyone else there, just the two of them. (Completely ignoring the fact, that David could be at home, but he isn't here in the kitchen in that exact moment so everything is fine. 😅) They can both reCHARge their "love-batteries" and are just happy to have each other - they are SOOO in love! Their looks at each other combined with THIS HUG says everything! 🥰 What we don't know: Is Nicks sickness over by now, since he threw up again already or does this mean, it's still there? 😟 Since he's worried about the rugby macht, it looks like, he is worried, it will still be there later that day - whenever that match is. 🙁 In the second panel we can see a typical characteristic of people-pleaser-Nick: "I got help, so I need to give something back. I made trouble and I feel guilty for that, I need to fix everything again.", which is in a way really lovely, but he needs to learn, that it's okay to just accept some help from Charlie. There is no need to feel guilty for that! 🥺 And Charlie looks adorable, while he is leaning on Nicks shoulder ☺️, but also a bit worried, because of Nicks sickness and the following rugby match! 😟 The third panel makes me want to eat some pancakes, too! I mean, who doesn't like pancakes in the morning for breakfast?! 🤩 And there he is, even with still having a hangover, Nick stands there and makes pancakes for both oh them! Charlies face in the forth panel reminds me of that scene in S1 E8, where he says to Nick, "you didn't have to do that" and means Nick fighting with Harry, to defend him! Like, of course, Charlie doesn't expect anything for his help. They are boyfriends, so Charlie knows, Nick doesn't need to feel guilty and doesn't need to apologize for getting some help from him. The fifth panel is SO IMPORTANT for them: Nick is finally at least a bit aware of his feelings and is finally sharing them with Charlie, the start of opening up to him! 🥺 And the sixth and last panel at first made me feel like: "Omg, why is Charlie stepping back now?! 😟" but then I realized, I think Charlie just wants to look him in his eyes properly, when it's about to get more intense and their conversation keeps going! I can't wait to see them talking more, deep and intense and in a caring way, so that both of them feel such a relief, as I was feeling when seeing them happy and in love together again. That's healing; or as Sarah/Aunt Diane would say: "That's love, darling!" 🥹❤️‍🩹

The hug and shoulder snuggle are adorable. I hope Nick feels all that love flowing from Charlie and understands it is occurring after somewhat alienating behaviour from Nick. Charlie isn't going anywhere. Nick acknowledges he was a mess and clearly remembers at least the jealousy and probably yelling at Charlie. Charlie will remember the extreme, out of character drunkenness and that statement about everyone hating him that Nick makes. That's beginning points to communicate with Charlie. I'm wondering if Sarah talked with Nick about anything prior to Charlie coming downstairs...I think Charlie will be laser focused on Nick's face, hence the step back, and his response and I hope Nick gives him a honest one - no David interruptions please.

Oh, how I love the "how sweet it is to be loved by you" mood in the first panel...Charlie locks his arms around Nick ("I'm here and I want you to feel the promise of my love, my heart...they are still yours!"), their smiles are so genuine and full of warmth (I see that dimple peeking out, Charles, and I KNOW Nick definitely does), they make the sweetest eye contact (finally...they needed that!), their HAIR (who totally has its own relationship) is reaching out for the other, and they start talking with the OBVIOUS facts rather than jumping into the too deep: "You were so pissed last night." "Yeah, I threw up again...not a good sign for the match." ( and just saying now a rugby match after a night like that makes ME queasy!). It's such an easy, domestic, beautifully tender moment, and more importantly, it's also a much needed moment of reconnection, regrounding, reaffirming of THEM, (especially for Nick), that even though some shit happened last night, "WE" are okay...you can see the relief on Nick's face in panel 2 as he holds that smile as Charlie silently lays his cheek and his very worried face on Nick's shoulder... there is something about Charlie's raised eyebrows and wide eyes that show an adult level of concern, while his squishable little cheek reminds me that he is also still a teen. It's a beautiful image of how it looks and feels to be in that phase of being an emerging adult facing really hard issues (like our boys here and also the rest of the Paris squad does ) AS they are also just GROWING up. (It's a subtle, but powerful capture of that phase of life, and I am so glad Alice drew Charlie like that). Nick, on the other hand, technically IS doing something super nice for Charlie who DID technically help him last night. On a superficial level, that is best boyfriend ever material...and yay for that! But on a deeper level, which Charlie now sees, there is Nick's "I have to DO something for you to be able to love me"...it's so ingrained in Nick that I don't think he can even sense it. But, Charlie does, and in that 4th panel, Charlie looks up with such a stricken look on his face (god his eyebrows alone on this page express the most incredible emotional story, and here, they make me tear up), "You don't have to do that..."(the "..." being : You don't have to prove anything, Nick, or make up anything. I just want you, I wish I could get inside your head so I could listen to what you can't say yet...because I know it is in there...please don't feel like you ever have to or need to EARN my love. You already have it. You already have me. You always have, and I love you so much, Nick, I LOVE YOU so much). And I am so proud of Nick in that 5th panel for owning some of his actions...he can't make eye contact with Charlie yet, but, I am also not hearing any "HA HA, I'm fine" either. I see a very tired, very aware Nick (the bags under his little eyes, oof)...I see the darker color behind him as he pauses, I see the staring down at nothing look as memories of the night (especially from the bathroom) flash in broken moments before him, and I see him berating himself for being, "a fucking mess last night." It hurts to see, and I know it really hurts Nick to recall, but I am SO proud of him. It's another step forward. Then we get that view of just their feet (RIP stripy pajamas, lol), which for them, speaks volumes about where their relationship is from tippy toe kisses to deep hugs with intertwined Vans and Converse, and I love the way Charlie matches Nick's forward step by taking his own step backward, giving Nick space...space to breathe, space to turn, space to face Charlie, and space to LOOK at Charlie, really LOOK at him , (and you know what soft, tender, "it's okay, Nick, it's me" reassuring and caring look Nick will see), and maybe, hopefully keep talking, "Yeah, I've never seen you like that," (You scared me a little, and I bet Nick, that it scared you a little too...tell me more, I'm right here, it's okay, Nick...). The wholesome, open, promise of safety and love is all over this page. It's flowing mostly from Charlie to Nick right now...it's so warm (but also still a bit fragile)...focus on that one step at a time, one step at a time, boys. ( I really wish I could freeze all time and everyone that exists outside of this kitchen for now, until...). Beautifully done, Alice, beautifully done.

I'm glad to see that Nick can properly function, and is aware that last night wasn't a good thing for him. I've known far too many people who don't consider it a good night unless they've ended up in a worse state than Nick did. But Pancakes are a very good recovery food, and also a good food for domestic scenes like this little window into the future, though hopefully without talks about going too far the night before. But even with that, there's no judgement or recrimination, just concern, love and understanding. Hopefully Nick can open up now. It'll be good for him.

Good to see that Nick is not backing up entirely from yersternight's events and that he can see Charlie being there and supporting him. Also love Charlie's honest approach, he admitted that Nick was a mess but did not dismiss or blame him while also he did not just swipe the issue under the rug. Seems mature to me. And this is how the talking begins. Nick's acknowledgement that he went overboard the night before, and Charlie's acknowledgement that he was concerned, even scared, by Nick's behavior, but nobody issuing judgment or recriminations. And all the while, they stand close to each other, speaking each other's love language of touch, mutual concern, and creation of the safe space between them. These two boys are lovely people, learning how to love each other as they grow into lovely adults. Let's let them cook, and eat, and talk.
