Well! Yes, it's the pillow fort as mentioned in the 'Nick and Charlie' novella.

Slightly nervous to upload as I'm sure it will prompt a ton of discussion! 😅 This is what I have to say about the ‘pillow fort’ and associated discourse…

The line in the 'Nick and Charlie' novella about them having sex in a pillow fort has been memed to hell and back for years. I think people at first found it kind of shocking or raunchy, based on the perceived 'sexlessness' of Heartstopper, and responded by making a big joke of it - usually younger readers, who I am generally more forgiving of. But this soon devolved into people just commenting the words ‘pillow fort’ as a suggestive joke any time anything remotely sexual is ever referenced in Heartstopper. WHICH, and not to get too discourse-y, is annoying because Nick and Charlie having sex isn't a joke or a meme, and I find it uncomfortable when people’s response to characters who are deeply in love having sex is to crack a joke or make fun of it (but then we get into discussing the current irony culture of meme-ifying everything, especially sincere expressions of deep feelings…)

I could have responded to all of this by just ignoring that this line ever existed. But generally when people make fun of what I write, my reaction is to simply do it more and harder. So what I have decided to do is make the pillow fort a beautiful and sincere moment in Nick and Charlie’s story. I’m sure there will still be jokes. But now it’s a serious and poignant moment in their relationship development, and no one can ever take that away! 'What a wicked and ironic comment bro, now try saying something true and beautiful' or whatever that tweet was 🤷
