I know no one's ever going to read this but the context in which I read this page is quite amazing and I want to share... I had just gotten out of seeing a play in which Thibault de Montalembert (who plays Nick's dad in season 2) plays a main role... and his character in the play is ALSO named Stéphane??? and I was surrounded by the two amazing friends I met when Heartstopper was filming in Paris!! And we read the page the three of us together... perfect timing Alice, as always... ANYWAY, regarding the page: I KNEW THERE WAS A "BUT"... and I also love how "this is quite a big step" could either refer to the GCSEs OR Nick and Charlie doing... stuff together I guess (because Jane OBVIOUSLY knows)

Maybe it’s because I was raised in the toxicity of American purity culture (I wasn’t even “allowed” to have a boyfriend until I was 16) but I am impressed by Jane’s ability to grow and fight her own anxieties to trust and be open to the idea. Obviously I think Mama Nelson’s response is healthier but this is still a beautiful representation of a supportive parent.
