I was just rewatching Heartstopper on Netflix (again!) and I realised that the first time Nick meets Charlie alone in school after the kiss is in the art house, which is Charlie's safe space. So, 1. Charlie brought Nick into his safe space because he wanted Nick to feel safe in school while Nick was going through his full on gay crisis and 2. Nick, even though he didn't want to come out, trusted Charlie and went along with wherever Charlie wanted to meet. This is very much unlike Ben who used to always control where they met (even during the season 2 ambush) because he liked that control over Charlie. This contrast between Ben and Nick towards Charlie has been very important for me in understanding coercive control in so-called "loving relationships".
