Okay; so a little confusion about who was doing what while Noah was on vacation. Sorry about the wait on this one.

When Eli says “Seri level future” in the first sketch my phone picked it up and told me about “level future.” LOL

Markus Nävergård

the fact that vampires as a monster survived this franchise is a wonder. Also, folks that think it is cool to be a vampire needs to read some older vampire fiction and not the horror romance. Being undead is not a good thing

Uriah Jackson

I was re-listening to this tonight, and it occurred to me that Stephanie Meyer should send them a personal letter of thanks for not suggesting how much of the awkward romance and ridiculous behavior was the result of her writing.

56:30 about Eli’s tip 15 % comment: I’ve read the books and Edward canonically tips $100.00. Probably the most useless fact I carry around and that’s saying a lot.

Matt

I’ve heard the whole Twilight series is heavily Mormon, but I’m not subjecting myself to either of them enough to find out how, so can someone explain?

Chuck Ellis

THANK YOU. I was screaming Snuffles at my phone.

Henry Arndt

That’s a tricky question. I’d argue that the Twilight Saga was not written to be explicitly Mormon, but it kind of turned out that way. The author, Stephenie Meyer, is an active Mormon and has arranged for the LDS church to collect 10 % of all Twilight royalties as tithe. Meyer has flip flopped over whether Bella should be regarded as a role model for readers, but Bella’s qualities Meyer seems to regard as positive examples are shared by a lot of practicing Mormons. Bella is written as a self-sacrificing, very responsible young woman who uncomplainingly does domestic tasks. She’s not supposed to be loud, gossipy, or obnoxious. Meyer failed miserably in her execution of that (fascinatingly so), but Bella is designed to fit the mold of the cultural values and expectations of Mormon women. The vampires also exist on a higher plane of living which involves lightening their skin color (YIKES) and the vampire patriarch shares a lot of qualities with an idealized depiction of Joseph Smith. That being said, aside from occasional ham fisted Christian overtones, a vague consensus that souls exist, and references to angels: no one in the story has an explicit faith. The only outright religious reference I could find in all the books is a throwaway line that Bella’s dad was raised Lutheran but doesn’t attend church. Actual religious faith and rituals have no bearing on the decisions any character makes in all of the books and movies. Bella does not pray, Bella does not acknowledge a belief in God, and Bella neither reads nor takes inspiration from any religious text in the whole series. However, it’s not an accident that the apple on the cover is the forbidden fruit from the Garden of Eden. I’d say Twilight is culturally Mormon, not religiously so. Hope that answers your question.

I think at the time this movie came out Anna Kendrick waa still a bit early on in her career—or at least she wasn’t in a lot of big budget blockbuster projects yet.

Erin and Gilford Murphy

Wasn’t it literally written as a Gerard Way fan fic that got reskinned into an original story?

Mr Pudifoot

I hate you guys so much for making me watch this movie. ❤️

Patrick Bracken

I heard - numerous times - that Eli was in charge while Noah was away.

Bird Lawyer, Esquire

Strictly speaking, a pederast is someone who's interested in young boys, so Eli would have to have been noticing boys in prom dresses.

Hazel

This movie's creepy themes about the man watching/stalking her, constantly being on the fringe of "losing control" and the fact that the "good guys" are all white but she's briefly tempted by a brown person, and absolutely not having sex all makes a lot more sense when you realize that the author is pushing Mormon ideology.

Thomas Rogers

You poor crazy lunatics, this is by far the worst thing you’ve put yourself through. Just try to recover

Sammypt

How Kristen Stuart “opens and walks through a door” doodily doo is one of the BEST!!!! Had me bark laughing 🤣

Taru Tikkanen

Thank you, it was worth the wait.

ann sokolovskaya

Ecstatic to settle down in our currently broken ass bed and listen to this

Ann Ominous

Mormon Movie Month already?!?!

Steve Gosse

Not sure if you guys realized it or not, but Anna Kendrick is in this movie.

igewbvhmcv

I’m so glad you guys did this movie. True story, my friend and I had a meet and greet with two of the guys that played werewolf’s, and we almost ran them over in the parking lot. We didn’t know who they were. Both of us never really like the movies, but we had the day off. We followed them around all day, for the hell of it. At the end of the day we got one only then to do a picture with me in a homage to Lon Chaney’s “The Wolfman”.

Debbie Anderson

THANK YOU! I was trying to remember that dog a few weeks ago!!!!

David S.

I'll caste my vote ahead of time by saying I'd like you guys to review all of these.

The Gray Hunter

Wouldn’t doing vampire moves with a hacky sack be... wait for it...sacrilegious??? Banda bing! (This movie SUX... worse than that pun)

Haydn Millard

“Disco ball of death”. I can die happy now.

Hoosier Heathen

Thank you! I don't remember it sounding like that, though.

Hoosier Heathen

I think I must be crazy. I like Kristen Stewart's acting. At least in Adventureland.

Corey Roberts

She's good in every thing else I've seen her in. The character was just absolutely...god awful.

Familiar Purrson

I find Stewart a bit wooden, myself, but the primary culprit here is really the dialogue. I tried watching Twilight with the sound turned off, and it's a rather well-produced film. Lovely shooting, good cuts, the works. The weak link is Meyers' abominable writing.

Grant Cosper

Actually (and I can't believe I'm doing this, but...), "pederast" can apply to boys or girls. A pedophile is someone attracted to children sexually; a pederast is someone who acts on that attraction and has sex with children (boys or girls).

Grant Cosper

Yeah, she and Pattinson are good actors. Bad writing can make any actor look bad (save for Anna Kendrick of course)..

Ann Ominous

Wish there was more Mormon Theology breakdown. There is a tone of it in these movies/books

Anonymous User

You inspired me to watch this again. And the sequels. Hugely entertaining but Stewart and Pattinson have all the charisma and chemistry of two planks of wood.

Anonymous User

Some of it may be bad writing, or poor direction, but unless the direction was “say how devastated and upset you are as though you don’t mean it- maybe in the same tone you’d read out a shopping list. No, not quite that engaged”, the acting is also at fault.

SweetHogsofWarWithaNavy

Gonna need to take a break here. That is SO MUCH Anna Kendrick worship. jesus henrietta christ

La-femme-fetal

The scene where Laura’s mom screams after she finds out her daughter is dead.... yeah, that’s better than the entire twilight franchise.
