I know this is years too late. But Gene Rodenberry did NOT write this POS. It was written and directed by William Shatner. Nimoy got to direct ST3 and ST4. Nimoy also did the story (not the script) for 4. And Shatner’s ego demanded equal treatment or he wasn’t coming back

Yay Callie!

Genuinely the best episode you guys have ever done. Thank you for making my day!

Citation Needed covering Uranus early and hearing Heath's introduction to Star Trek is the perfect beginning for my week.

As a fan of some Star Trek, but not full Trekkie (haven't watched Enterprise or Discovery, and have no intention of finishing Voyager) I loved the mix of Callie's expertise and Heath's total amateur fascination. 1:16:07 is possibly my favourite bit. First because Callie's version of the scene with excessive swearing is hilariously Shatner-like but not OG Star Trek-like. Second, because watching the movie, the deck inconsistency in that scene was just... the funniest shit. Like, the numbers are HUGE and you can't miss them but even if the Enterprise were bigger or the labeling not reflective of the amount of floors it had, the order makes NO SENSE.

Diana

This is the episode where Heath becomes a Trekkie.

Lisa Bees

This was great. Thanks to Callie for being so patient and hilarious.❤️

All-timer of an episode. Callie is fantastic as always. I'm enjoying the journey Heath is taking in the PIAT podcast family, from exploring his burgeoning sexuality on Citation Needed to his first tentative steps into becoming a Trekker here. It's just a David Attenborough voiceover (and video, presumably) away from being a truly engrossing documentary.

Manos Hands of Fate, Troll 2, and now Star Trek V. I think we can now officially say that singing "Row Row Row Your Boat" is a kiss of death for your movie.

Hail Stan

Can't wait to listen to this. This is an all-time favorite guilty pleasure movie for me. The deadpan "If you think it would help" from Spock gets me every time.

this and the passion are the only GAMs I've ever seen, I feel so cultured

I went to see Cats with my daughter for two reasons. First was the pure camp of it; I’ve seen it twice on stage and goofy though it is there are some catchy songs. Second was that I knew you’d be reviewing it!! Can’t wait for your take...

Mike

It’s a little like the Navy but in space. No. It’s a lot like the Space Force but on the ground. So, The Space Force.

Hypatia

I grew up with Star Trek the original series in syndication on television, pre-cable. Until I got past college I saw every episode of the first three series, and it really shaped how I looked at the future of humanity. Then there was this movie. It was SO GREAT listening to you guys try to "get" the Trek thing. Thanks a lot for doing the episode. More Trek. Now onto "Spock's Brain"!

Contra the review, the scene with El Capitan was accurate - the very famous peak in the background of that scene is Half Dome.

Tabitha Kaiser

tbh I'm not sure, but I wouldn't be suprised if they haven't, cause it's kinda been done to death

Markus D

They haven't. I know that Eli denigrates the movie for not being "bad-good enough" sometimes.

Chad Nielsen

Right???! Please make this a spin off show!
