This week we did this movie because Heath threatened to hold his breath until we did. And then he realized that revisiting this movie is worse that not breathing.

I was enthusiastically awaiting this when I saw it download..I watched this movie SO MANY times as a practicing alcoholic at ASU, that I could later recite it verbatim while walking the yard at tent city (got to once flick off Arpaio and his goons once. This breakdown I could 100% playback while you went through.

I hope the take down of this cinematic garbage is especially savage.

Matty B

God damn it. I have to hold this for my morning commute.

I loved this movie a few years ago and remembered it and literally showed it to my girlfriend LAST WEEK. Maybe I'll learn why she didnt like it....

Big black cockatoo

I love this movie. I still ask people why they need rope.

Noah's opening rant about how bad 90s comedies were is so classic, so very *Noah", that I'm putting this episode on my list of top 3 episodes I would recommend to a new listener.

Kurt Montandon

I loved this movie as a drunk 21 year-old. Twenty years later ... not so much.

David

This is the only one I won't listen to. Boondock Saints is perfect and shame on you! #teamHeath

VeganDanimal

Only 20 mins in, so maybe you correct it, but you guys know The Big Yin Billy Connolly is Scottish not Irish right?

Markus D

I'm a bit younger than you Noah, and I don't want to like... give myself too much credit, but I was also on team "wait a minute guys, why do you think Adam Sandler is funny?" before it was hot. Same with Eddie Murphy stand up. Admittedly, I didn't see it in the 80's but I knew people who watched it and were certain it was funny while I just, baffled, said "you don't get AIDs by being near people, dumbass".

Bird Lawyer, Esquire

I know Noah wants to be corrected on pedantic things, so I'll let you know that "viscount" is pronounced "vye-count." Long i, s is silent.

Cory Effin Springer

Thanks to this episode, I now know I wasn't crazy for being unable to find the humor in Adam Sandler's movies in the 90s. I've never felt closer to you, Noah, than during the pre-show rant.

CarrieBoo

I love this movie. And I cant wait to listen to you guys eviscerate it.

Lethal Wheat Gluten

Definitely this is a GAM. So many years I liked this movie.

CarrieBoo

I was not disappointed.

Another interesting thing about Kitty Genovese beyond what Eli mentioned: she was a lesbian, her “roommate” was actually her girlfriend (she died on their anniversary), and she was coming home from her job as a bartender at a lesbian bar when she was attacked. There’s so many layers to the story and the way it was reported just gets more and more horrifying the more you read. notchesblog.com/2017/05/04/an-interview-with-marcia-gallo/

I remember liking this movie...but I also can't say i've ever seen it sober so...who knows.

Diana

I also remembered liking this movie when I saw it in college and my brain apparently protected me by blocking out literally everything but the one cool action scene.

Andy Ward

I've played poker with at least two murderers. Better watch my back.

Denise Huston

"You remember in Gigli..." I'm gonna stop you right there, Eli.

Grant Cosper

I was hoping they would correct it too.

Grant Cosper

One of the few things I'm truly proud of, is never liking this movie. But BIlly Madison is genius.

Kyle

Ok I want to say the following: 1: I absolutely know the lip flub Dafoe does, I got you Heath. 2: “It was a fire fight!!!” Is my ringtone, it’s amazing. 3: how do you not call out the one time the detective was right and Dafoe was wrong. 4: if you guys do Boondocks Saints 2 within 6 months I will permanently up my patronage.

Marcus

Aw man... I really love this movie. I’m strongly ambivalent about this...

Annika Gunn

I knew this movie was terrible! I'm not alone!

Aya Sakurai

Speaking about Willem "No Oscar'' Dafoe... Will you review "The Last Temptation of Christ" in the future? I'm old enough to remember the shitstorm of Christian freakout it caused all over the world.

Stormy Decisis

There was a twitter game going around where you found movie titles that were funny with the last letter removed, ala "The DaVinci Cod". Anyways, "The Last Temptation of Chris" would be an awesome movie

Sarah Amber

Bonus if they mention my favorite part of (likely apocryphal) Hollywood trivia... word 'round the campfire is that every time they got Willem Dafoe up on the cross, he got an enormous boner and they had to call "CUT!"

I literally listen to this episode on my work speakers for my coworkers to hear as the gateway episode to your podcast. I share it in as many discords as appropriate as well. Thank you so much for repeated hours of joy.
