Watching this horrible movie now. So, the mark is something that happens 3 1/2 years into the rapture, making the events of the first movie (where they pretty much immediately jumped to tattoo time) wholly inconsistent with the second. Unless they just mean to hand-wave it by saying it was a dream sequence. But to be honest, I don't really give the makers of the movie credit for being that clever.

As a soldier, I have to agree with GeneralJD. I sat there and thought, "I feel like this should offend me, if anyone other than Eli was saying this in front of me I would punch them right in the mouth, but goddamn that's exactly equivalent to making a child watch this film." I did the math; A year away from your father waiting for him to return only to have a huge buildup and him be dead = watching this film for ~1 hour.
