Because there's no torture quite like Christian sketch comedy...

Comments

Sarah Normal

They had these Fire By Night VHS tapes in the library of the church I went to growing up. They were right next to Psalty the Songbook and The Donut Man tapes. 🙏

The Real Moorey

You have no idea how much the teenage me would have loved these. I was 14 when this would have originally aired, and right into Stryper, Petra and the whole Christian Rock thing up to my ears. About to listen to the podcast. Breath is heavily baited.

A Simple Mango Farmer

"Chopping wood" is one of those Christian phrases, like "Iron sharpens iron", that football coaches use to mean keep doing the work.

Wait, is this the sketch comedy that had the "turn to the 301st page in the communist manifesto"? I remember a sketch comedy that tried to do the "book long" joke but they used a book that's less than 100 pages. A bit ironic, considering the bible is 1000+ of mostly nonsense.

I am not gonna lie, I do like Stryper, and not in like an ironic stance. That guy can sing..... I just ignore the lyrics.

The Real Moorey

@joseph, I can’t quote you. Must be your settings. I still love Stryper too. Though only really the first 3 albums. There were some kick arse Christian bands that I still love musically and kept their cassettes...yes Eli, cassettes 😂

John & Jimmi

So, if you aren't already aware, the guy behind Church on the Move, Willie George (yes, that's a real name apparently) made a stupid kid's "Western" show which aired in the Tulsa metro where I grew up. So there's even more material there I'm sure.

I listened to the first one and just now realised that the fire by night refers to the pillar guiding Moses and the Israelites out of Egypt.

How much do we have to pay to get Eli into a Christian improv class? "God Awful Courses Plus"

Uriah Jackson

Fun detail about 2nd Chapter of Acts: despite their claim of staying together because they're family, the band broke up the next year.
