All I could think about when the suspicious old man showed up is that Rich probably saw the TV Movie "Roswell" starring Kyle MacLachlan. Martin Sheen plays a character that serves no other purpose than to exposit the "truth" to MacLachlan's character and make him go "hmmmm???" Rich Chirstiano absolutely watched that movie, shit himself out of fear, and stole that character.

That's one of my favourite episodes because of the sheer ridiculousness of the shit in it, like the "hitting a raisin at light-speed" dismissal of alien space travel.
