This week, Cara joins us to revisit a time when disabled people as movie prop wasn't enough to scare away A-list actors. Or ... B+ list, at least.

Blue Star Comics

Relistening through the archives and no kidding, my Internet went out for a second in the middle of Eli explaining what loading is. Incredible timing.

Sparrow

They changed quite a bit from the book, ranging from the main character being Cody's grandmother rather than aunt, to the reason the cult needs Cody being she is able to summon a magical talisman capable of bringing about pure evil. Also Cody is a messenger of Isis or something, and ancient Egyptian mythology was real.

This isn't Christina Ricci's first Christian movie, but she's too good for this garbage!

And Basinger's an Oscar winner... I'm going to cry gently into my coffee now.

Amanda Horne

I'd love to see her join the main cast, but I'm sure she's plenty busy with all her other jobs. She really does deserve a cut; she's a delight!

Elvis Manson

This one was so bad it's bad.

My mother is a nurse, and I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that "full moon = bunch of crazy patients" is an INCREDIBLY common belief among nurses, to the point that it's a common joke across all of their social media. Unfortunately.

General Contact Unit Problem Child

I'm surprised Christina Ricci wasn't too big for a part like this by 2000? I mean this was post Adams Family and Casper, and she's not even the lead

As a dental professional I can confirm pedodontist is an actual term. But there’s a reason most office list themselves under “pediatric dentistry” instead lol. Also, many in this field refer to the child size X-ray sensor as the “pedo sensor” and it never fails to make me snicker.

I do actually know a person who believes that Satan exists, but doesn't think Christian god exists. It's not logically consistent, but that's faith for you.

Also, for Cara: The hood of a nun costume is called a "wimple".

Lesley Gordon

I was today years old when I realized his name is actually Noah Lugeons and he isn’t going by the mysterious alias No Illusions 🤦🏻‍♀️. Great show, carry on!

GodAwful

no you had it right the first time ;)

When Noah mentioned the kids gathered around the dead bird and how the nuns didn't remove it from the playground I couldn't help myself and said, aloud: "More like PLAGUE-ground!"

Rockguitarist89

I had been confused before too. Was it his real name or not. It’s not. It’s just wordplay on “no illusions.” Not sure if any of the other hosts’ names are real. I can understand why not since religious nuts are prone to terrorism.

Eli podcasts under his real name. Noah, Heath, and Lucinda are all pseudonyms (and puns): No Illusions, Lucid Delusions, and Heathen, Right? However, both Noah's and Heath's real names have been revealed at some point or another. Noah freely revealed his true given name early in the podcast history during a diatribe. Heath's mum dropped his real name -- repeatedly -- during a Mothers Day livestream last year. (Note: If you are also a listener to CogDis, Cecil is also a pseudonym (based on his last name). However, he dropped his real first name during the first livestream when he forgot to change his Zoom name.)

I learned that years ago because of The Sound of Music, but I still feel slightly skeptical because of how much that sounds like some sort of English euphemism for a labia or something.
