Autopilot and flying a plane is a complex topic but... TL;DR Yes some planes actually can land with the correct stuff entered into the autopilot (Airbus 300 to 380 series) As for why not just always have the autopilot fly? Why do we need pilots? Well when everything is working right it's fine... but you know when you encounter a bug or a glitch in a video game? What if 100 people died for every one? Which is part of why we need pilots. Fun bonus fact, the Boeing 737-800 auto pilot had as many bugs as pokemon scarlet and violet. That story deserves a Citation Needed someday.
