Please don't use Mastondon - at least not exclusively. It is not remotely user-friendly or intuitive enough. I'm optimistic about Threads, although they will need to make some changes to really make it viable.

Threads uses the exact same infrastructure as Mastodon. They use the same underlying communications protocol as Mastodon. Try https://spreadmastodon.org/enhance-account to learn how to find interesting content on Mastodon. It’s not a twitter clone, it’s a completely different way of engaging with people, but it’s better
