Oh wow. Thomas! Can't remember the last episode he had been on. Good to hear him again.

Suzanne August

It’s do nice to hear Thomas on here again! Just wish he had feet.

KeepingThePlatesSpinning

Thomas and Lydia!!! Nobody mentioned that Heath loved this movie cause he’s in a relationship now

Peter Kyrouac

I still think of Keanu Reeves's "They Want a Hot Dog" sales pitch from Sweet November every time I grill up some hot dogs.

Markus D

Interestingly enough, Nelson was NOT the name of the male lead in the 1968 movie—it was Charlie. Sara Deever is the same though. No idea why they would complete change one and not the other, and change it to something as old-fashioned as Nelson.

J. Vizzle

3 things, (so far). 1. What in the FUCK is a "spatchcock?!?!" 2. Tom is going to divorce Lydia over the, "Dose eck keys" thing. 3. Heath has a foot fetish that involves cats. PS -Keaunu is fucking national treasure.

Anne the transwoman

Keanu isn't that bad of an actor. Come on Eli why the hate ?

Markus D

"Spatchcocking" is when you take the spine out of a chicken so you can cook it flat. As a cat owner, I totally get what Heath is talking about though. It's not a fetish thing, it's just like how it feels good when someone touches your hair.

J. Vizzle

I have cats too, I love them more than 99.9998% of people, but if they woke me up by licking my feet I'd rocket out the roof like a cartoon.

J. Vizzle

I second this!!!

Total Absolutism

For as maligned as it might be (for good or ill), Cyberpunk 2077 unequivocally proves Keanu can act really well.

To microwave a hotdog: place in a cup of hot water and microwave 30 seconds at a time

Matthew Finbow

I'd say he's not that bad an actor NOW. In fact, I'd even go so far as to say he's a good actor these days. However, there were definitely movies in which his acting was terrible. "Bram Stoker's Dracula" for instance, along with the one they cover in this episode.

Uriah Jackson

Another way that works well: place in bun/bread, slice across three times, wrap in a paper towel. Cook a minute or minute+ ten seconds.

Uriah Jackson

Is eating hot chocolate powder really that strange/difficult for most people? I've done it both intentionally and accidentally.

Starshark

So, just to build on the team's theory that Reeves did this movie because he got to say 'dog' a lot... I want you to look at the cast of the *Extremely Good* Alex Winter comedy Freaked and see what part Keanu played (uncredited because his agent was being a dick).

Nate

DOSE A KEYS ❤️❤️❤️

Denise Huston

Keanu was really good in Always Be My Maybe, playing an unhinged version of himself.

Pterrorsaurus hex

Was thinking about having hot dogs earlier and did the same thing. I'm about to cook some up for my lunches this week. Because I WANT A HOT DOG!

Markus D

I was under the impression that they thought it was gross because it was cocoa powder, which would be bitter, but then they were really critical of the powdery-ness rather than the taste so... I don't get it.

Markus D

Even if it was your toes or something where the skin is less sensitive?

Markus D

It sounds disgusting to me— but so do hot dogs in general—but there are apparently hot dog companies that recommend microwaving as the best way to cook their meats.

ABagFullofBags

Spatchcocked and pan fried is the best way to eat a hot dog Heath wins shut it down

Unofficial_Opinion

Tumors caused by hot chocolate power are called Cocoa Puffs

Kyle

I literally had Shakshouka for the 1st time ever yesterday for breakfast. Am I being followed!?

Order-Border

Heath has been fucking broken lol 😂 amazing

Uriah Jackson

Hotdogs in general are kind of an acquired taste. I personally dislike them when grilled and am a bit meh about boiled. Air Fryer is pretty good, and microwave is acceptable in a hurry.

Zosia Romanowski

I'm loving the cocoa conversation because I loved eating it from the jar as a kid but now can't understand how people do it. "I love eating dust" killed me.

Patrick Carr

Everyone needs to google the video of a young boy who persuaded his mother to let him eat a spoonful of cocoa powder straight out of the can. His reactions are priceless.

J. Vizzle

I'm a pretty nervous person, anything that wakes me up like that ends up with a me-shaped hole in the nearest drywall.

Jesse Ozog

My wife eats cocoa powder out of jar.

Someday Sera

having Lydia on 3 different podcasts this week has been great, I'd love to hear from her more.

Portland Norm

Eli’s callout to the TikToker building a tunnel under her house got me! None of us are stopping her! We’re just waiting for ‘TikToker Buried In Homemade Mine Shaft’ headline.

Kait from Seattle

Holy crap, Lydia is SO GOOD in those interstitial sketches. 🤣🤣🤣 Can she come back every week?!

Markus D

There's a terrifying implication to the idea that a hot dog can be spatchcocked—that it has a spine to remove.

Markus D

My issue with them isn't so much the taste, but the texture. Like... it's not just a sausage, it's something significantly more masticated ahead of time. It doesn't get gelatinous, but it's... something like that.

ABagFullofBags

Yeah, you want to save the spine for hot dog broth or gravy! Where do you even get boneless hot dogs?

DrProfSatan

I found the hot dog pitch on YouTube. Holy crap, they were not exaggerating at all. It’s soooo bad.

tsukiouji

Shakshouka is fantastic

Talyn

Um, question, how do you get your driver's license in the US? I mean, I know they gave one to Eli, so do they just hand them out when you reach a certain age?

Mitch Bain

The "it's a hot dog" sequence in this might be the funniest thing I've ever heard on a podcast

WelcomeToFalse

In Heath’s defense, all of these things are being done by Charlize Theron. Just being Charlize Theron buys you a lot of leeway in most any situation.

AnimeFlowerChild

..............why did you have to mention that?😱

AnimeFlowerChild

Re: Charlize Theron being on a ton of pills after stopping treatment, those were probably hospice care - part of hospice care is administration of medication that makes the person be in less pain and feel more comfortable, and i don't think they'd refer to that as "treatment" the same way they do with stuff like chemo (even if it'd probably still count) Also, it's sweet how earnestly Thomas thinks that "no means no" was a common understanding when this movie came out. It was not.
