Growing up a jw my parents were hard core paranoid about any kind of object bringing in demons to the house ...and legit belive that my grand mother practiced voodoo and brought a curse on her family it shows as the rampant mental illness that runs throughout the families

When I was a kid, probably ages 7-8 through 15-16, I was fully convinced (indoctrinated) that demons were hiding in every fucking shadow, under my bed, in my closet, in the attic, the spooky side-yard outside my bedroom window, etc... my mom told me that if I said, "I rebuke you in the name of Jesus Christ and by the power of his blood" it would make the demons go back to hell or whatever. I can't tell you how many nights I spent in the fetal position muttering that magic spell to keep the snarling, drooling, red-eyed monsters that I imagined were surrounding me at bay. Religion really is child abuse.
