So, it sounds like Earth-1 is now Earth-47, for lack of a better explanatory... thing. I'm on Shot- 5 by now, so forgive temporary lack of a better... wordy thing. This approach could have saved DC Comics about a 100,000 pissed off fans... I dig. I highly dig.

So instead of focusing around the original 'prime' now we got an alternate universe taking the prime-spot while the other one is still out there ? Well I guess that is good enough for me to know not all the past stories and the whole universe is gone like most retcons try to do.
