The last we saw these two , they were engaging in a little one-upsmanship in the Evil Inc lobby. In today's Evil Inc After Dark, we're up to two women. Longtime Evil Inc readers will recognize the newcomer as the Alternate-Universe Lightning Lady.

About the Grey Phantom... it was a brilliant heist. It was too long to go into in the comic above, but it worked like this. Every household has at least one electrical outlet that's in a hidden corner. Grey Phantom created mini-dimensional warps and plugged into each of these outlets from other dimensions... household by household. Then he proceeded to drain electricity in small amounts from each other-dimensional household. But the cumulative effect was enough to make him a major super-power in this dimension.

He, of course, was thwarted (and thwarted good), but some of his former henches suffered residual effects from all of that hopping-and-plugging...

Steve

Is this the first time we've seen Lightning Lady without her mask?

Brad Guigar

I *think*(?) I've drawn her mask-less in previous EiAD episodes... but I'll have to double-check to make sure!

Harley Dennis

thank you for the nice ass shots. ;)

Taylan

Double the Lightning Lady...That is quite the deal :P

Greg Steele

Hey! Wait a minute. I thought all the other dimensions were collapsed in the Ruby crisis on infinite Evil Incs? Even DC stuck to their guns longer than this before going back to the status quo!

Brad Guigar

The Evil Inc story now takes place in a branch office instead of the corporate headquarters, Evil Atom is no longer CEO (Dr. Whoosh is), Cap and Miss Match are no longer married (in fact, none of the previous relationships stand), Cap is physically involved with Psy-Chick, Oscar and Oliver are gone, Cap's parents (Commander Heroic and Ms Amazing) have yet to make their first appearance, doctors Vincent and Haynus are also M.I.A., Lightning Lady (who had become a department head) is once again a receptionist, Desdemona is no longer pregnant, Iron Dragon has a completely different suit-based power, and several new characters (including Count Spurlock, Grim, Psy-Chick, Giant Tess, and Thea Rhutman) have been introduced. My friend, I respectfully submit that the status is hardly quo... despite what you may (correctly or incorrectly) infer from that one panel.

That being said, here's a look behind Evil Inc's "world-building" (such as it is). The Evil Inc storyline that existed from 2005-2015 still exists. We'll call that "Old Evil Inc." All of those characters are moving forward in their own reality... however, it's a reality that we're no longer paying attention to. Arch Bros is another alternate reality... and, truthfully, so is Greystone Inn. The Evil Inc that we're following right now is just that — yet another alternate reality. It just so happens that it's the reality that we're choosing to follow. Likewise, the alternate reality shown in this update of EiAD (where superheroes are outlaws and corporate villains are now corporate superheroes) never stopped existing. In fact, there will be a brief crossover between the two as this EiAD story unfolds. Does that mean that *theoretically* there could be a crossover between Old Evil Inc and "New" Evil Inc? Absolutely. (But I wouldn't bet on it.)
