I have recently found myself sometimes needing images of myself DMing or playing, and not having any! (Or at least, not that I have rights to — since, by nature, authentic photos of me in action are shot by someone else.) So... I FAKED IT.

Here are a few shots of me sadly pretending that I have friends at the table 😂 Next time I run a game, I'm gonna see if everyone is okay with Josh snapping a few photos, just so there are real human bodies in the frame!!

I like to think that Josh was sitting in the other room... Staring at Ginny as she was trying her darnedest to be candid.

What are you talking about? I've seen videos of you DMing with your players Ginny, Ginny, and Ginny! That's like three friends right there.

Em

For one whole second I said "hey! I have that shirt!" on the dice-rolling picture. 🙃

Luka Murphy

The posing and situations may be fiction but that smile is genuine!!

Lizard Leigh

the color on that pothos is insane 😳

you mean the snow queen on the shelf? 😍 I'm obsessed with it, I've propagated it like 3 times and kept all of them, haha!

Definitely could have pulled some stills from those shorts. These are super cute and I love that smile, but the last one is the only one that isn't just unbelievably posed. :)

pats her on he head. it's ok dear, you'll have lots of friends some day i promise. and you'll go to castles and denmark and even new jersey.

Nathanial

You look like you’re having so much fun taking those photos! Love it!

No, no, no - I find these unrealistic. You're smiling in all the pictures. You need to have a few with a look of incredulity, in some have your forehead in your palm, sighing, etc. Maybe pulling your hair. Maybe my DMing experience is different.

Hi! I'm a forever-DM and I'm about to start a new campaign as a player with a first-time DM and I'm terrified of overstepping on his turf. Would you happen to have any advice or rules of etiquette for this? Thanks!

That first picture reminded me of a song. "...until that dragon coasted in and ate her like a snack! Oh, TPK, TPK, Total Party Kill..."

You didn't ask me, but I hope it's okay if I say -- if you're really worried about overstepping, you're not going to overstep. This shows how conscientious you want to be, and that's already the most important thing!

I’d recommend mentioning this to them and having a conversation! Personally I love having DMs at my table as a resource, but I know not everyone feels the same way, and they might want more freedom to find their own way. When in doubt, I’d err on the side of not volunteering thoughts, but letting the DM know privately if you’d like to be considered as a resource in case they have questions.
