One thing to remember about these shows is that characters are usually flawed. They won't always make the right choice or choices you agree with. Chances are that other people watching will agree with you that they aren't making a good choice. This just means that the character isn't perfect and has room to grow. Sometimes the flaw is related to something specific. For example, Oliver has made several poor decisions when it comes to family. He kept trying to avoid investigating his mother in season 1 when it seemed like she was connected to the Undertaking and he didn't want to confront Thea about Malcolm and her killing Sara until it became obvious she was lying. This blind spot is something we have seen and you will continue to see lead to Oliver not making the best decisions.
