saw this movie when it first came out on VHS. I was 10 or 11. It was also my first "big" book/novel. 399 pages. for a movie over 30 years old it's held up amazingly well. as always I'll be looking out for more reactions and I'm excited for more Wednesday.

Just started lol. It was supposed to be a family friendly park…. Spared no expense….

Dennis Nedry (the guy who was stealing the dinosaur embryo's) is not John Hammond's son. It's funny how so many people get confused by that. When he says "thanks dad" he was being sarcastic because Hammond was giving him what sounded like fatherly advice. They are not related.

Who thought bringing dinosaurs back to life was a good idea 😂

When the T Rex puts her head in the top of the jeep. That was actually a malfunction. The material for its skin was so heavy from the rain it dropped down instead of stopping at the glass. So when the kids scream in the scene it was real. Luckily the cameras were already set up in the right spots.

Great movie. My only complaint is the poorly conceived deux ex machina with the T. Rex and the raptors at the end. How does the T. Rex get in the building, how did no one hear it approach, etc. But that's a minor complaint. The rest of movie is great movie magic and endlessly rewatchable. Most of the effects were a combination of early CGI and animatronics (honestly more animatronics than many people remember). In a way, this film was a bridge between the old method of practical/optical effects and the digital effects that would come to dominate the special effects industry in the years ahead. This film is a rarity in that the digital and practical effects blend well, and there isn't an overreliance on either. It also marked the end of Spielberg's golden age as a director, which began with Jaws in 1975 and included other classics of the era such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind, the Indiana Jones trilogy and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. This film would also spawn six sequels, all of which, in my opinion, fall far short of this film in every way. However, they continue to rake in dollars at the box office, and as long as they do that, they will continue to pump them out, no matter how absurd the storylines get.

There are a total of 7 movies so far in the Jurassic "universe" Jurassic Park (1993) Jurassic Park: The Lost World (1999) Jurassic Park III (2001) Jurassic World (2015) Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) (Battle At Big Rock, 10 min short 2019) Jurassic World: Dominion (2022) Jurassic World: Rebirth (2025) I saw this movie in the theater back in 1993, it was groundbreaking. The CGI was on a completly different level than anything before and changes the history of moviemaking.
