I definitely think these two episodes are weaker ones for Katara, but I think they do a good job at humanizing her. Each character has their own flaws which makes them more compelling with room to grow. Katara is shown to have made mistakes blinded by jealousy or her crush. However, we do also see her face consequences for her mistakes (get captured by Zuko/pirates and almost getting everyone in a village killed). Hopefully she learns her mistakes and can avoid have those specific things cloud her judgement.
