To be fair, the only person who thinks the world is ending is Lucas, and it's a theory he shared with Mike and Nancy. They are unsure if there is any truth to it. Not to mention, the group up to this episode has been split into three, and the military is completely unaware of the situation with Vecna. In that way, I can understand why it "doesn't feel like the world is ending." As for what’s in the case, the First Shadow Play revealed it, but then again, Netflix never released it online.

Lucas carrying Max the entire time man he saved her that’s a real boyfriend ! & Ms Wheeler did amazing she had her Sarah Conner moment & the music solution can work for anyone i imagine but Max was also right in that Lucas means as much to her as the song does so the theory is that whatever you care about the most can be your exit if its in physical contact or your hearing it.
