Daki, originally named Ume, was born into the harsh world of Yoshiwara’s red-light district, where beauty was both a gift and a curse. Alongside her older brother Gyutaro, she grew up in poverty, their lives marked by struggle and survival. Ume’s striking looks led her to become a prized courtesan, but her life was far from glamorous—it was a world of exploitation and cruelty. Despite this, she remained proud and defiant, her spirit unbroken even as she endured unimaginable suffering. Gyutaro, fiercely protective, did everything he could to shield her, but their lives took a tragic turn when Ume accidentally insulted a samurai. In retaliation, he disfigured her, and Gyutaro, consumed by rage, killed the samurai. The siblings were hunted down and executed, their lives ending in despair.

As they lay dying, Doma, the Upper Rank Two demon, offered them a chance to live again as demons. Consumed by hatred for the world that had wronged them, Ume and Gyutaro accepted, becoming the demon Daki and sharing a single body. As Upper Rank Six, Daki wielded her beauty as a weapon, luring and destroying countless victims. Her bond with Gyutaro remained unbreakable, their shared pain driving their cruelty. During the Entertainment District Arc, Daki faced Tanjiro and his allies, ultimately meeting her end. In her final moments, her humanity surfaced as she clung to Gyutaro, their tragic story concluding in a bittersweet reunion. Daki’s tale is one of tragedy, a reminder of the devastating effects of a cruel world and the humanity that lies beneath even the most monstrous of beings.
